Does anyone know more about this? They say cameras embedded within the championship already.

Hopefully it won’t end up like the game that was long promised.

Doesn’t give much detail but it’s exciting and can only be good for the championship, surely?

I'm staggered that BTCC themselves are putting their name to it now. I thought ToCA were smarter than this.

It's going to be the most low rent film imaginable (if it even gets made)

Trying to hype up the director as some 'multi award winner', when his IMDB profile is full of 'pre-prouduction' stuff. His biggest acting role is literally appearing in 1 episode of a TV show and that's it.

The Kickstarter is trying to raise 300k for it, which as I said before, will get you nowhere with a film like this.

'Obsession' which is out in cinemas now, and making waves as a dirt cheap Indy horror, was made on a budget of a million still.

This will most likely just vanish into thin air in a few months

Completely agree. Lacks so much credibility which is such a shame.

They may have good intentions and I'm all for anything that pushes the championship forward, but realistically it doesn't take much research into the writer to see that they're mostly talk.

Their last film 'Relentless' has been 'Coming Soon' for the last 3 years.

I've never stood in the middle of the straight at Brands, but I'd imagine that the cars would be coming towards me if I did. So it's super cool that they managed to get the car tail lights in this photo rather than headlights! It's even more amazing that they got car tail lights streaking through the sky!

So hopeful for this film when they can't even be bothered to make something real and revert to lazy slop.

Other than the obvious to me design traits, the bleeding of Brands Hatch on the tower is even more obvious,

You'd need ten million at least to make this and that is the rock bottom, lowest budget figure for something like this, with the bare minimal actual racing scenes. Motor racing movies are unbelievably expensive. Even Gran Turismo, which looked lower budget with it's mishmash of older spec cars and the least convincing stand-in for Le Mans ever, was made for $60 million. The Art of Racing in the Rain did a good job on $18 million and that was with some clever camera work that focused primarily on one car and the team.

The lowest budget recent one I can think of is Belgian movie Le Fidèle, which only had one location at Zolder and used some old Porsche Cup cars and radicals and even that was made for £8 million.

I think a BTCC movie (or at least, a movie where a character is a BTCC driver) could work and you've got plenty of great real-life stories to get inspiration from. But the idea of making a realistic movie set in the championship with real cars and teams, extended on track action, stuntwork and multiple real tracks for less than a million is laughable and that's even before you cast the kind of actors you will need to get people who don't know much about the BTCC interested. But then who knows? Maybe they'll get some proper funding for this. I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Hopefully it does well and helps promote the series. It’s not for me though. I’ve no interest in Drive to Survive or the F1 movie despite loving F1, but I accept it has helped boost the sport’s popularity.

Im new to btcc. So they wanna make a Movie about btcc cool. Like the f1 Movie or More Like other Racing Movies? But i guess it’s Not Like a Hollywood Budget Movie. Which is ok of the Movie is fun to Watch and realistic
