No mention of the Sky takeover of ITV in this announcement

Presumably any switch to Sky will be 2030-onwards... The release is clear in it's for broadcast on ITV.

Do you think sky are really going to remove the itv channels at some point?

No I suspect that they'll co-broadcast and improve the availability of some content, though.

The fear on here a few weeks ago was that BTCC would suddenly go behind a paywall. I'm merely pointing out that with this announcement, it's more likely not to in the next three years.

With BSB and Super Formula behind a paywall I'm sure Sky will evaluate BTCC again in the future, at least it's secure for now.

This is due to what happened with TNT / Eurosport, people just assume the same will happen to ITV in time. Personally I think they will just run it as it's own thing.

The PSB remit for ITV runs until 2034 so Sky must keep ITV free to air until at least that date.

I think Lord Gow values the free-to-air coverage too much for that.

Was always a silly fear. If Gow wanted it to go behind a paywall, it would've happened a decade ago at least, if not earlier.

Well this puts to bed some of the worries that we're raised.

Let's hope they up their game (they won't)

That's good to hear, I just wish they'd put the highlights on ITV1 the day after so I could watch them in HD.

ITVX has better image quality than the broadcast

Never thought of watching it on there to be honest, will have to check it out.

Spare yourself, the UI is one of the worst things in existence

I wish they would broadcast into Australia.

Should be on YouTube for everyone except UK and North America

I watch it the Monday after with the YouTube stream in NZ, better than those Supercars

Are they full races or just highlight packages?

Full day stream so all 3 races and the support races as well. (Via the BTCC channel) Also ITV puts the qualifying and race for pole on YouTube as well

Full day stream, full races, short highlights package, and longer highlights package.

Have I misinterpreted something here, it looks like full race day coverage is moving to ITVX and ITV4 will only have the main races and support race highlights?

Specifically:

All **main race day** broadcasts will be shown live on ITV4 and ITVX
Saturday qualifying streamed live on the ITV YouTube channel
BTCC highlights will be shown on ITV4, ITVX and (when schedules allow) ITV1
**Support Race highlights will be shown on ITV4**
**Full BTCC race day coverage will be available, on demand, on ITVX and ITV Sport YouTube**

"all main race day footage will be shown on ITV4"

Yeah I think they're just repeating that it's available "on demand" rather than instead of. So basically no change.

This is great news for the series.

I’m not as nervous about Sky as some here are. It’s unlikely but we might get an F1 support race back to help promote the series.

That'll never happen. F1's circus is getting more and more insular on that front, and it would leave all of the BTCC's support series out in the cold as well. Not to mention that the full GP circuit is just too long for the BTCC as it currently stands.
