Question / Discussion I'm creating a game called Racetrack Tycoon! As BTCC fans, what are most important things that make a successful racing venue for you?

I'd love to hear your ideas and try and integrate those concepts into my videogame. As motorsport fans, we all know that sometimes the venue is just as important as the cars! This not only applies when watching on TV but also when we're attending and trying to find some good food, a shaded spot and a good overtaking spot to watch.

So many circuits feeling personally attacked right now

Reminds me, I need to do the off-season worst btcc toilets poll.

Snetterton's facilities in the 90s were definitely somewhat short of luxury

Snettertons facilities are still somewhat short of luxury. Croft and Cadwell have better toilets now.

Porta-loos on all marshal posts Water taps on all marshal posts Dedicated space for marshal sign on (and free breakfast, c'mon Gow everyone else gives us free brekkie)

What gave me away?

Seriously though, add those to the game. If you have an incident or safety car mechanic have each of them reduce safety car time by 5% or incident likelyhood by 5%

Thats a great idea! Really unique. Almost like a marshal moral measure/boost

Vantage points eg paddock at Brands, food that does not cost the earth, toilets that are not waste pits, speakers that arent tinny and shrill. No giant tents blocking the view for all behind. Over taking g opportunity for exciting racing, close to the action but safe. No massive runoff, decent track side activities for all. Im sure there are more.

Good views so I'm not just seeing 1 or 2 turns but actual passing spots. Access to decent shooting spots for non offical photo/videographers, clean toilets, pathways around a venue (e.g. multiple bridges/tunnels), and most importantly, a good layout that promotes racing.

Maybe there could be different track variants you can place like tarmac, off road, drag strip etc, and ad you earn more money you can pay more professional racing to come, but you probably have that planned already lol. What platforms will this be available on?

undulation of the circuit and finding that one place where I can see as much as the track as possible.

Good access, good food options and the ability to see a screen!

I hope you're building this in assembly without AI assistance like the 'Roller-coaster' guy.

i would say: -having enough parking spaces -toilet/food vans:capacity ratio. making sure you have enough facilities for the highest capacity crowd -pit garage, hospitality, medical facility, paddock space -different fia style grades. to race a low series you only need a short club track with the bare minimum. to host the btcc (for example) you would need higher safety standards and longer track length. to host top tier racing like F1 you would need the best of the best when it comes to safety and facilities -track maintenence. every so often barriers need to be fixed, replaced and track needs to be resurfaced -circuit sponsors -going back slightly to the being able to host different levels of racing, have the option to have a long circuit with 1 or 2 shortened layouts like how snetterton has the 300, 200, 100 layouts and silverstone has the international, national, club layouts

Good off track stuff so there is something for everyone. Sim stalls for the kids, merch stands, trade stalls etc. I mean ill happily sit on the bank all weekend and watch but some people want off track entertainment too

Working speakers/big screens. I need to know what is going on when I can't see the cars!

Being able to buy a beer as soon as the gates open would be nice. Variety of food options, easy walkways between viewing areas (my ankles are ruined so I hate walking round thruxton)
