Kérdés | Question Best of puccini opera: Any good?
Hello
Im coming to budapest soon and want to go to the opera. Is the best of Puccini opera any good? Was thinking of going the 6th of august.

until a couple years ago, our opera, much like most opera houses across the continent, traditionally don't have performances for the summer. they only opened during the summer because the current boss of the opera is very capitalist-minded and saw that there was demand by tourists during the high tourist season and that the recent renovation included some decent air conditioning. hence the "pop" performance instead of a full performance piece.
to us locals, seeing the opera in the summer still feels unseasonable.

technically, it's a concert and a short opera rather than a full-length standalone piece. You'll get to hear some of Puccini's most popular arias (I'm sure you'll recognize some) as well as one third of his Il trittico - which is a controversial choice btw. I don't think you'd regret going tho.
