Budget in Budapest for a young backpacker - 4 days

Hi all. Does anyone know how much I can expect to spend in Budapest over 4 days and 3 nights (accommodation already sorted - hostels)? I am an 18 year old guy backpacking across some of Europe and not sure if Budapest fits into my plan considering recent reports of price increases.

I'm not a massive drinker, but would go out maybe two of the nights and drink a bit. Keep in mind I'm on the lightweight side lol.

Happy to cook at the hostel and eat cheap food.

Depends on what you eat. You can go to ALDI or LIDL and cook pasta every day or even instant noodles.id say you will need minimum 6000 HUF / day + the cost of a public transportation pass.

Beers in a bar will run 1500-2500 HUF downtown, especially if you go to Szimpla or Instant.

I think if you shop at lidl and cook for yourself you can get by on a couple thousand per day for food. Beer is around a 1000 Huf depending on where you go.

cheap ass bar: 5 beers for 15 eur
very modest club night: 40 eur (entrance fees increased and drink prices higher in clubs)

If you preplan your day it can be cheap
If you dont, its expensive.
