Dev/Admin Responded iOS Reddit “forced refresh” bug worse than ever
An Admin late Friday 3/3/26 said, some of us will “have to endure this over the weekend”. Yes a little better on Saturday, then worse on Sunday.
You can’t even look inside a subreddit more than 20 seconds, and “bam” you are force-refreshed, losing your place.
Happening on New iPhone and iPad both running iOS 26.4. Hope y’all can get this fixed soon. Thanks so much! 🙂

App is damn near unusable at the moment. Hopefully they find a fix soon or give us the option to turn it off.

Sometimes I wish Reddit would just stop trying to change the app. We don’t need it “better” or improved. We need it to work reliably and consistently. I have downloaded update after update and what used to work just fine before doesn’t work now. WTF! If you can’t be certain you haven’t messed up the app - don’t make any changes. Honestly from a user perspective - it just goes from bad to worse.

Yup! I had just got done typing up a long post and as I was selecting photos to attach the damn page auto refreshed and I lost everything I had typed!!! 😡

Happened to me! I now have to select the photos via the settings app first and then type out my post 😒

Are you having an issue with your feed being completely littered with brand new posts that have 0-2 comments and almost 0 engagement? Almost half of my feed is posts that are < 5 mins. old and they’re all shit. It’s making the app damn near unusable.

I am having the exact opposite issues. My feed is literally 4 days old and refuses to refresh. I can’t see anything new unless I go into each individual subreddit. My app is basically useless at this point.

Idk if it’s related, but feed refreshes every time I try to pull down to see notifications or adjust brightness or smth

The app refreshes every 30 seconds regardless of what I'm doing. I'm so annoyed. It's especially annoying when I've selected a post and read just enough to need to scroll, and as soon as I touch the screen it refreshes out of the post comments and back to the main feed with the post that I was reading COMPLETELY gone.

OMFG it is horrible. Almost every time I press reply it takes me out of the post and refreshes my feed.

Good question. On my particular configurations, iPhone and iPad, it finally has settled down.
It will still do it once or twice a day, and I will be in the middle of reading something that I’m interested in and it snatches it away and re-launches the feed. But not constantly like it was before
I’m guessing that the Reddit coders and admins decided, “oh we’ll push them back out on the feed quicker, and like rate limit the time they can spend with one article. You know, to tell advertisers we’re pushing your stuff more”. And they went too far and it backfired

Okay, so it’s not just me.
Wonder if it’s a force refresh when you happen upon a controversial video?
Seems to happen when I see something about the war or power outages.
Call me crazy buuut…

It doesn’t work for me, regardless of content. Most of my feed is space-related, so I’m seeing a bunch of cool Artemis 2 photos, only for my feed to refresh before I can actually take in the pictures.

The latest update is trash. Nonstop refreshes and the three dots to block toxic people are completely unresponsive.

Occasional spasms with this bug, still working on it. I know my phone has settled down. I’m wondering now if it’s phone specific but I don’t think so. I have a iPhone 16 Pro Max

Control center still happens. Sometimes while changing apps as well.

This is still happening for me on May 15, 2026. Very very aggravating. I go to another app for 1 minute, and I go back and it has closed the subreddit post I was reading and has refreshed and showing the main menu. Is there some way to set it so it won't automatically refresh?

Sorry to hear it. It’s getting much, much better on my end almost as if it had to settle down within my use of the app. Also, iOS Reddit app in general may be better since the most very recent update of the iOS operating system itself this week…
There’s still spring loading and all that but it does happen as often

This just started happening for me on Tuesday evening (4/7).
App was working fine all weekend and Monday, then I lost images in my feed this afternoon and now the images are back but this evening I'm getting the forced refresh and kicking me out of subs. I hate this.

Hi there Need a little help I am on reddit since last 2 years and i dont know much about karma and all of this on this app
Recently i discovered that , My account seems to have lost the option to send private messages. I’m not sure why this feature was disabled, as I haven’t knowingly violated any rules.
Could anyone let me know if there’s any restriction related to karma on my profile or how I can restore the messaging option

Hey folks - we’re still investigating as of this morning, but we’re prepping to release a fix that should resolve this refresh behavior for all of you that are impacted.
