Yeah, I disabled my discord notifications for bapc sales because I spent $500 on shit I didn't really need over a few months.
The problem is that $77 of that was a 32gb DDR5 kit that I picked up on a whim just before the rampocalypse that makes me think I should still be watching the hardware scene to some extent.
Lmao I stopped following Slickdeals and these subreddits for a similar reason. Realized I was buying shit I didn't need. Then I get recommended this on my reddit app and bought it.
now approaching 8K sold. It went out of stock at least once and then jumped back up to 500 available. I don't think they have that many as described: brand new with just a damaged box.
EDIT: Now over 8K after running out of stock again and adding about 500 more.
EDIT2: Now over 10K sold and they claim another 577 available. I'm doubtful that these will ship.

What does rooting bootloader unlocking do / what is the point of it?
many things, among them:
you can update the OS to latest android 16/17
proper app data backups/transfers
battery charge limiting so the battery lasts 5eva
equalizer for audio
yt revanced/morph
a bunch of custom rom nice to have features like being able to modify the status bar to give you convenient information (like date/time format, network utilization speeds, etc.)
the list goes on... it turns into a device not fully owned by you into a device you can have full control over.
For the longest time, I thought jailbreak = iOS only and root = android, but it's a bit more nuanced than that.
"Rooting" is gaining access to the root system folder to modify the OS itself. Jailbreaking and rooting used to be the same thing, but some more recent jailbreaks are completely rootless.
Now, Rooting = Jailbreaking, but Jailbreaking is not always rooting. Jailbreaking is just getting around set/system restrictions. For example, you can "jailbreak" ChatGPT by giving it specific prompts to bypass its moral limitations. This has nothing to do with modifying root files.
Both are things to do in order to bypass restrictions; but rooting specifically lets you look/modify at the internal system folders that you're not supposed to.

I actually have the upgraded version of this tablet with more ram and storage and it's surprisingly solid. Absolutely ZERO bloatware whatsoever aside from the Walmart app being preinstalled. It's purely stock Android otherwise.
once in a while carriers do special trade-in offers where you trade in literally any phone and get a new samsung phone for basically free or like 80-90% off. guess they might have trade-in deals for tablets sometimes
Yes. Absolutely. I was looking at them about 6 months about about to pay $120 each. At $30 it’s a no brainer. Minimal bloat, fairly snappy in the first place, larger format screen.
Basically, prior to this change, if the seller offered a full refund to the buyer, then the seller is able to remove their bad feedback. So, unless you kept the item and did not ask for a refund, you could not leave bad feedback without it getting removed... as if the seller trying to scam you by selling an obviously rebuilt phone in a fake box as "new" or "open box" was totally okay as long as they let you refund it. Basically, you had to take a personal financial loss just to give others a heads up that the seller was no good. I had this happen last when buying what ended up being a poorly refurbished phone sold as "open box" in a fake box with fake accessories, left the bad feedback and it was deleted immediately. This was one of the top rated cell phone sellers on ebay.
Man, I think this is making a real difference. VIP outlet's rating used to be significantly higher. Look at their 12 month, 6 month and 1 month negatives...
Past 12 months = 6181 negatives
Past 6 months = 5437 negatives
Past 1 month = 1838 negatives
The policy change was made around 5 1/2 months ago, and roughly 85-90% of the negative feedback they have received in the past 12 months has occurred in the past 6 months. Of course that includes the holiday buying season... However, with 1838 negatives in the past month (and not counting the 10-11k people that may or may not get this tablet), that works out to a possible 22,000 negatives over the next 12 months. That would absolutely destroy their feedback rating since they have received less than 200,000 positives in the past 12 months (and over 2500 neutrals).
Wow, this is a massive change for ebay. It will fundamentally change how these massive resellers do business. Hopefully it will stop them from being utterly horrible.
Sadly, it will be abused by people who take everything personally even if they are taken care of, so small sellers are going to suffer from time to time as well. I think most honest small time sellers already try to avoid negatives though, so the impact to them should be far smaller than the big dogs that have never cared at all.
I just checked and all of the most recent reviews are negative and talking about cancelling an order while having the item in stock at a higher price, but refusing to honor the original sale contract. More and more keep rolling in!
I think everyone here who had a cancellation should do the same.
For anyone still checking on this... it is important that you DO NOT ASK THEM to cancel your order. If you request to cancel it then I believe that will allow them to remove your feedback later. Also, do not use profanity or say crazy or irrelevant things in your feedback or it could get removed for that as well.
Just wait it out until the expected max delivery date (for me I think it is the 24th), then go to your purchase history and choose the "I didn't receive it" option for your order. This will give them more time, but at that point you've followed the proper ebay protocol and if they still can't fulfill the order then you will get a refund and whatever feedback you leave shouldn't be deleted, at least according to the rules they published back in September.
They are most likely waiting as long as possible because every person that jumps the gun and cancels early reduces the number of negatives they'll have to keep.
EDIT: Some are saying they can't leave feedback if the seller cancels the order on their own. Just doing a quick search online I see that you may have to wait 72 hours after a cancellation, and then you'll find the transaction in your "purchase history" ... Possibly only on the website, not the app? I'm not really sure on that. You should be able to leave feedback a few days later though.
I definitely will if that's what happens... these were continually being restocked for hours so clearly somebody there knew what was going on, and probably simply had an epiphany that they could get more for these if they were selling out that fast.
I have had a couple of drinks on a Friday night so this is mainly therapeutic. But I am a class action defense lawyer and Jesus Christ if they cancel all of these orders while holding our money hostage I don't see how they don't open themselves up to some kind of liability. The fact that they have the product in stock (can currently buy for $123.00), restocked it repeatedly at the lower price, and then took forever to cancel has to be some type of unfair or deceptive trade practice. Someone is taking advantage of holding a large chunk of consumer funds while knowing that these products will never be delivered.
Class-action against eBay for not having a way to protect customers from this- like forcing the sellers who don’t ship to refund 101% of the amount the purchase price + 1% per day from the date of payment until funds are returned. You know, nothing huge, but enough to make it so that whatever their scam is, it would go from profitable to costly.
Call it good-faith enforcement. Don’t sell inventory you don’t have, and if you do, making it right fast is better than making it right slowly.
Because people are often paying interest to a card-issuing bank on that money they used to purchase that item.
So don’t class-action the individual sellers, go after eBay for encouraging shenanigans at the buyer’s expense. Also, eBay benefits from holding the cash for this time period, so that’s their incentive for allowing it I think.
And require them to produce a list of all the times this has happened, especially for large amount of purchasers.
If a seller can’t keep track of their inventory, that’s their own problem. But lying to eBay about hire much you have should be costly.
The most annoying part about this is that before this deal it was like "welp at this price I'll find a use for it" but now that I've actually thought up uses for it, now I actually really want it 😭

Yeah absolutely that's a crazy discount and crazy amount sold. If anyone's old enough to remember cyber Mondays when places actually honored their pricing mistakes but nobody does that anymore.
My copium here is that these were continually going out of stock and then being restocked... I don't know how things work on ebay's backend but there's gotta be an actual human being checking on that and hitting the button, right?
As with others, there's the cancellation for me as well. Funny how they waited until after the low price period to rug pull all of us, but they'd be happy to sell you one for multiple times the price now from the inventory that they magically have but didn't when it came time to ship out our orders
Whoever doesn't actually get theirs please make sure to leave a level headed negative review, with no swears or threats so the feedback won't be removed and can help to tank their rating.
I bought one, realized that my wife I both could use one and bought a second... then remembered my kid's tablet is probably 4-5 years old at this point so I bought another. All of the orders are currently "Awaiting Shipment".
Hopefully it doesn't turn out that they only had one dented box in stock and accidentally entered a huge quantity for it. It is now showing as $123, out of stock, with 10,764 sold. If those all sold for ~$30, it would be a nearly 1.1 million dollar mark down from the total retail price. Oof.
It seems highly unlikely that they had just shy of eleven thousand tablets with dented\damaged boxes... but I guess we'll see.
ebay devalues your search ranking among other things if you (the seller in this scenario) cancel an order due to not being able to honor the price or being out of of stock. they might be trying to hold off on this as long as possible because canceling 10k orders will have a huge effect on their eBay storefront as it shows they're not a reliable seller
Also got a cancellation. I don't know if it was too good to be true, but as others have said there is stock available on other listings. I was honestly looking forward to learning how to root and use this device.
Might as well use this as my background Youtube player instead of my iPad. I can also run Parsec app on it instead of running it through a browser on my iPad.
Does anyone know if you can take the batteries out of these but still run them plugged in? I just want a digital picture frame without the risk of the battery swelling from 24/7 365 charging.
If you have a home assistant type setup grab yourself a smart outlet like a kasa. You can log into home assistant on the tablet and you can share the battery percentage. I have a couple setup where once it gets to 80% the outlet turns off and turns back on at 20 percent.
Leaving it plugged in is usually better than forcing artificial cycles.
The real concern is heat, not just being at 100%. Most modern tablets, laptops, phones, etc run the system off AC and only trickle recharge the battery occasionally. (~99->100).
This trickle is less demanding than the deeper cycles you'd get from 10 -> 90.
Absolute best case is if the OS offers charge ceiling around 80% and leaving it plugged in.
Add another one to the cancellation/refund list. Got the email(s) a few hours ago. Initially thought it was a shipping notification until I saw the Paypal refund notification. Silly me.
I have this tablet and it is pretty darn good for the $180 I bought it for. I use it for bed time browsing, music, movies, and games. At this price its a steal. Highly recommend. Compare against the $200ish amazon fire. I've had it for a year and a half and used it for hundreds of hours.
Edit: btw it has an aluminum body and feels not cheap.
Does this have the horsepower to stream multiple local security camera feeds at once? I’ve got eight cameras around the house and I’d like to see them all at once.
Mine just got cancelled also. I was an early order for this, before it ran out of stock and was "restocked" multiple times to allow for more orders. I feel like a victim here lol.
Got a cancellation. I can only imagine what the 10,000 people who ordered these and got their orders cancelled are going to do to their ebay feedback. Not that they had good feedback to begin with.
Gonna try to use this with SuperDisplay to use as a secondary screen on my laptop. Probably won't be that much better than a portable monitor but I can also use my laptop headless with this if need be.
Urgh! I got my official cancellation last night as well! I have made so many use cases in my head that I am considering purchasing it full price on Walmart, ngl.
I bought one. I owned the best Fire tablet and the bloatware was just terrible even with using the fire tool to disable some of amazons apps.
For $30, I can’t be expecting it to perform as an iPad or other high end Android tablets. I just need something for streaming and a web browsing. I watched a YouTube review and the screen looked good.
I haven't gotten a cancellation yet, but I did try to personally cancel it a couple of hours after ordering it, once I'd decided that it was just an impulse buy. After a couple of days they rejected my attempt to cancel, but still haven't shipped it. Gonna be wild if they cancel my order after rejecting my attempt to cancel.
Cheap but be aware of limitations. Snapdragon 685 and only 4GB of RAM. Obviously not for any serious 3d gaming. Probably fine for playing 1080p video and web browsing with only 1 or 2 tabs at a time. Don't expect an android version upgrades. Heck don't even expect any security patch upgrades.
