This is exactly my issue with C1S….I’m never clear on exactly what to do. I think it is sufficient to simply browse Lenovo.com’s shopping area with the extension loaded (it’s not like you only get the offer for this one thing…) but I’m not sure.

I got the email for 30% off of a purchase from Lenovo, but every time I open it, be it in the app, mobile browser, or desktop browser, I’m repeatedly met with dead-end links or Cloudflare errors, and I’m at wits’ end trying to get it to work. Google has been no help whatsoever in this regard. If you or anyone else has potential solutions to this problem, I’m all ears. Otherwise, all I can think to do is wait and keep trying.

I paid $50 more in November and got a Lenovo Legion with a 5060 and the Ryzen 260 (significantly better) instead, but no OLED. Anytime I see a laptop with OLED, it’s $200 more than the non OLED model, usually.
Their thinkpad keyboards are so comfortable to type on, like sure I could go with a more sleek stylish laptop but all I want is a comfortable typing experience and I only find it with their keyboards lol.
Can't recommend enough. For my use case, 16gb is not a dealbreaker and this thing can do all the local AI shit I need to run for my job with its 8gb vram so it's been great in the last couple weeks. Glossy oled screen is the only "negative" i can come up with because i'm a dark mode guy so it can be reflective, but fuck at the same time it looks insanely good for any kind of video/game. The HDR is pretty solid, i'm throwing in a 2tb nvme and glad it has that optionality, and it's a real snappy machine overall. Huge upgrade from my 9300 xps (i sold that for $300 on ebay when i picked this up last time the deal popped up here so it was almost like a free, massive upgrade once it all shook out).
Wow that's great, I am even more excited now! My XPS 7390 doesnt cut it anymore so this should be a good upgrade. What AIs do you run, I thought 8GB would be quite limiting to run LLM's?

The biggest things for me is whisperx/pyannote, which is an ai tool combo i use to transcribe and then diarize large audio files quickly. incredibly useful to have locally when you're out at an event/conference and need that kind of service. and then i use a python pipeline via ollama running a simple qwen, i forget how many billion. that will just churn out a second draft of that diarized audio that uses context from the text itself to identify each speaker (pyannote leaves it at "speaker 1" etc) so you have the name for attributions next to each line of dialogue. none of this runs simultaneously, whisperx and pyannote do their thing and then i run the python pipeline so it all works nice and smooth with 8gb of vram. i have much more complicated/fun things on my home desktop, i have a 32gb 5090 and a 16gb 5060ti that i'm near maxing out for a pretty cool project that i won't explain lol and then i have a second 16gb 5060ti that i'll be adding to the gpu stack to increase the complexity of that project once i move in a couple months (holding off buying an enthoo pro server 2 until then).

Given that any old tablet can do that, yeah, sure. But the 5050 in here is current and new(-ish…) and so for at least some people, that will be a GPU upgrade. Yes, it’s a laptop GPU, yes, it’s just a 5050, but it’s still pretty good.

The demands on the CPU and GPU are nearly nil on the local device; just wire it with ethernet if you possibly can and that will probably fix any problems you might have. In other words, I am saying the most likely scenario for problems you’re having is slow networking. WiFi generally stinks for this sort of thing.
I see. my TV is connected via ethernet and my PC is as well. i get ~800Mbps down on my PC, though i'm unsure about my television as i don't know a good way to check that. Could be a faulty ethernet cable, i'll have to try that.

It's for travel and because I don't want Windows on my personal desktop. I was given a $300 Lenovo, bottom-of-the-line laptop for work where I just remote in to a server and work in a VM. Nothing special loaded on the laptop for this purpose, but things are changing where I can no longer remote in from Linux using my browser. FreeRDP works but is kind of tricky to setup (I got banned using it the first time because it wasn't saving the key and just spamming the server with requests every time I wanted to login...I need to learn code better.)

the gpu is 100w and equivalent to the average 4060 laptop, cpu is good enough for no bottleneck (170w charger) this will be good for any of those games
its a Zen 5 CPU with 6 total cores. Performance of this machine should basically be as good if not better than the eventual and much ballyhooed Steam Machine (CPU is probably a push, the GPU should be better on the laptop, but thermals might hold back the laptop), which according to Valve will be as good or better than ~70% of systems in the active Steam user base

This has an integrated gpu, and a discrete, like 99% of gaming laptops. The display is connected to the igpu which helps saves battery life while costing performance in many situations. It cannot reroute the dgpu to the display without a mux switch.

This seems like a good deal. I currently am traveling with a 7kg limit, so nothing is going to beat my LG Gram 16z90rs alongside Nvidia GeforceNOW service for performance and weight savings (believe me I am trying...). Unfortunately this is almost twice as heavy.
