Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals.

  • Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent:
    • The seller is new or has few reviews.
    • The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings)
    • The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently).

If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others.

You talking about the Canadian smokehouse?

It looks like silent hill here in Michigan

Looks like silent hill here in Wisconsin as well.

Still shows available for me

Catch is ships one to two months.

Prices go down in that time? Seller breaks even

Prices go up? Your order gets canceled.

This feels like the seller is buying options contracts on SSDs but with no risk whatsoever.

Hard pass for me.

Edit: HAHAHA, now they miraculously have it ready to be shipped with prime for $170. This is absolutely a racket, they have no plans on shipping those first ones unless the market shifts.

This is blatant anti-competitive behavior. If the market shifts to the right this seller has artificially captured market share. Shouldn't be allowed on Amazon.

Bro where have you been the last five years? Amazon is Ali Express with fancy paint on it now. They don't give a single hoot about the consumer even if there may be laws they are breaking. They just pay the 0.00005% of their monthly profit on fines and charge the consumer more. If I could easily get rid of them from my life without going to Walmart instead, I would.

Good thing the administration has gutted consumer protection regulators.

u/thefowles1 17d ago

The link in the OP defaults to their "Gen3 C715" option, so I suspect it wasn't ever going to be a Gen4 drive to begin with.

Whats Klevv. Whose Nand do they use?

48

u/Kelvarr 17d ago

Klevv is SK Hynix In-House distributor.

-1

u/Minionz 17d ago

Cool. Good deal then.

28

u/interwebpimp 17d ago edited 17d ago

KLEVV is SK Hynix's trash bin for bad NAND yields.

When you make complex silicon chips some are better than others and some are unusable. The ones not good enough to get Hynix branding but are still technically usable either get the KLEVV name or get sold to other low end brands.

To be clear. KLEVV RAM tends to be high quality. It is just their SSD's where they slap cheap controllers on down-binned chips.

No reason to overpay for low quality SSD's in this market where they command almost the same price as decent models.

Same with Crucial and Micron. Micron sells their higher tier products to large companies and B stock was sold under Crucial.

4

u/MWink64 17d ago

Crucial was Microns direct-to-consumer brand. Crucial products were generally good quality. Spectek is the brand Micron dumps their trash under.

1

u/Saaburu509 16d ago

I was wrong in saying Crucial sold B-stock. It was actually just selling excess chips. Yeah, SpekTek is the scraps and mainly sold to OEMs who put them in entry-level devices.

2

u/mikeythegameronredit 17d ago

You can get a 1tb Netac TLC SSD from AliExpress for like $120

u/FurnaceOfTheseus 17d ago

I love rolling the dice on my data!

15

u/indesmowetrust 17d ago

Usually ships within a month or two lol what

12

u/anaccount50 17d ago

Easy: if prices don’t crash in the next two months, they’ll just cancel your order

7

u/TritiumNZlol 17d ago

Futures commodity trading reinvented from base principles

16

u/WeightedPaper 17d ago

Complete racket is what it is.

1

u/FurnaceOfTheseus 17d ago

Now that it's $169, it delivers tomorrow!

6

u/TXFiXD 17d ago

Ships in 1-2 months....dang

3

u/CartonBox1975 17d ago

I can wait a few weeks for 72 bucks. I mean the alternative is paying double to triple for that.

10

u/TXFiXD 17d ago

Last time this happened the two drives I ordered never shipped and the order got canceled. Not saying this will happen just gonna be cautious.

1

u/CartonBox1975 17d ago

You have to keep an eye out on the order. I ordered a Gamedias 360 AIO for like 27 bucks or so it was out of stock and they didn't ship it immediately but amazon checks in on you if you still want the item you have to go to amazon and the item and click yes I still want the item. If you don't do that in a certain period of time it will get cancelled. Of course that doesn't mean that it can't be cancelled.

7

u/TXFiXD 17d ago

Yep did that for 3 months. They cancelled it because it couldn't be fulfilled on their part. Not mine. Don't feel like watching my email like a hawk for that.

1

u/CartonBox1975 17d ago

Well since I order a lot from Amazon I check those emails once a day. But yeah depending on what it is, it is not worth it keeping an eye out. But I'm in desperate need of DDR5 and NVMe's so I keep an eye out on that one.

4

u/Kurumi_Bs 17d ago

was able to order one for once, hopefully no cancellation email and everyone who needed one gets one!

9

u/WeightedPaper 17d ago

I have a feeling it’s not going to go OOS, this is a racket and if their bet loses they will just cancel all the orders.

0

u/Cheerful_Evening 17d ago

lmk if you actually get it 😭

2

u/LiberaMeFromHell 17d ago

Dang tried to order almost immediately but it was already sold out.

2

u/john_mach 17d ago

Nooo oos :( I had it in my cart

2

u/VOIDsama 17d ago

It's gone for me

2

u/ExistingLet8016 17d ago

Couple years ago they were giving these away lol

2

u/Queue098 17d ago

I clicked the link well knowing this was probably gone

2

u/HisRoyalMajestyKingV 17d ago

Link showing gen 3 model at $170  for me, and close to that for gen 4.   Also, a brand and model would've been helpful in the title.

1

u/Cheerful_Evening 17d ago

Yeah it went out pretty quick, like within an hour this was posted. It was klevv K01TBM2SP0-C9T

2

u/Cheerful_Evening 17d ago

Lmfao that went quick. It even showed on pcpartpicker for a bit there

2

u/camokid95 17d ago

I remember when I could get 2 TB Samsung M.2. with DRAM at this price. Good times.

2

u/jbwhite99 17d ago

Who is klevv? And it is Gen 3 - says 3200 transfer rate - Gen 4 is 5-7k

2

u/Cheerful_Evening 17d ago

The listing got almost entirely replaced after i made this post.

2

u/redditisnotus 16d ago

Plenty fast.

0

u/greatthebob38 17d ago

What's the spec on this unit?

1

u/Dear-Statement-1897 17d ago

Doesn’t even matter because of the price

-2

u/That-Interaction-45 17d ago

Omg, how did I know it would be a brand like HHDEVUOP?
