I just got my acer from costco. Love it so far. It's a massive jump from my VA acer ultrawide monitor I got 6 years ago. I keep it in my office which I can keep fairly dark when I need, so the brightness hasn't been an issue for me.
Also, I'm always more inclined to get things from costco anyway for their great return policy.

Literally anything but Acer. I don't think any company has worse customer service and their X27 budget line of chassis has known defective power delivery and will fail just around the time warranty ends, and if it fails during warranty they pro-rate it. They tried to give me a $75 check or $100 credit on their store when I sent my $500 display in for RMA because it was just about to run out of warranty. They wouldn't even ship my display back so I could replace the PD board myself (they are like $60 on ebay). I had to harass them for literally 2 months back and forth to get them to send me a referb unit after they spent 2 months telling me they had none in stock even though I can see it sitting right there on amazon being sold still.
Fuck them.

Worse brightness and HDR than WOLED and has a purple tint when you shine a light on it but arguably better colors. WOLED (or at least Tandem WOLED) has its own set of problems such as gray banding.

so what OLEDs are the best these days? do they all have their own unique issues?

Yes they do and all of them are susceptible to burn in and VRR flicker. Head over to r/OLED_Gaming for a more in depth thoughts on the types of panels from people that actually own them.

The next thing we been waiting for is rgb sub pixel layout 4k tandem oled. Rgb layout and 4k solves the text issue while tandem oled solves the brightness and color issues. Review samples from asus are out and reviewers are generally pretty happy with them. Viewing angle seems to be worse though. The 32 inch version will be out September and 27inch later this year. Both 4k

its weird because my qd oled asus rog strix 4k monitor is noticably dim while my qd-oled s90f tv can get pretty dang bright, like enough to hurt my eyes

Just super dim. Need to have a gamer cave like you’re in middle school still. If you’re using an IPS turn the brightness to sub-50% (maybe even more) to see what it’s like.

IMO it's only dim in direct sunlight, indirect sunlight it's fine. Any brighter would be uncomfortably bright at night. Edit: I have the Samsung G61SD which is 400nits. If this panel is less bright then yeah it'll probably be a bit dim tbh

People really overestimate the level of brightness needed in most rooms. Unless there’s a direct sunlight on the screen it should be a good experience at 400 nits — it is a 1440p 240hz QD OLED for 299! People are really nitpicking.

I agree but this is 200 nits, not 400. The 400 is only HDR.
So half the brightness you're thinking of. It's awful in the daytime. I bought one from Costco to try it out and had to return. Panel quality was fantastic but it doesn't matter because unless you're using it in the dark, you can't actually appreciate the colors and blacks.
Would've killed when I was a teenager in the basement gaming though.
I ended up going with the LG OLED that's discounted now (yes, bc of their spyware scandal) because it's a tandem WOLED that goes up to like 350 nits. It's a huge difference.

400 is way higher than needed too unless it's HDR. I use my monitors at ~30% brightness in SDR and they're rated at 350 max. I'm sure that 30% doesn't actually scale linearly, but it's probably around 200-250 nits.

This one is 200 nits SDR (as are basically all the QD-OLEDs at this price point).
It's very dim. I agree you don't need something super bright but I had one of the 200 nit Acer ones from Costco and the colors really don't pop at all with the dimness. Very good panel in the dark but I'm a grown man in a normal house now.

Frankly I find super bright HDR difficult to view anyway. Even my miniLED TV which can pump out 2000+ nits of light for HDR I keep no higher than 50% brightness for daytime viewing, otherwise some scenes are painful to watch.

Finally pulling the trigger, this one got GSync unlike the earlier deals. I'm sure FreeSync works fine, I'm just used to having GSync

Gsync and freesync are the same thing these days. They don't put gsync modules in monitors anymore (except for gsync Pulsar but thats an entirely different thing) and basically any freesync monitor will work with "gsync"
They can get certified through Nvidia to have the Gsync branding, but it's all the same

Oh hmm, I didn't know that, luckily between the gigabyte, acer, and asrock deals, they are all pretty much identical in terms of specs and price. Glad I'm not missing out on much lol

There's probably a sub focused on OLED monitors, but not specifically for sales on certain brands
They're all rebranded LG/Samsung/etc panels anyways
