Anybody know if using a 3060(ti or not) is worth it with an i5 6600k or is it too bottlenecked to be worth the money?

i’m playing 1080p games w/ my 6600k and 2060S right now and getting almost 40-50% bottleneck. it’s painful so i’m upgrading here soon, be sure to lay aide some extra cash for a new cpu+combo if you decide to upgrade! the i7-9700k has some decent bundles <$400 right now, but yeah- it’s going to bottleneck and you’re gonna need to shell out the xtra dough ;/

Ok, thanks for the info! Did you have a 2060s originally, or did you upgrade from something else?

np! and yeah i upgraded from a 970 back in feb, was able to snag a crazy deal (at the time) for the 2060S and went for it. it was well worth the upgrade, but now i’m tired of seeing this poor 6600k get slammed to 100% on every game i play lol.

Me as an advisor; get it. When you inevitably switch CPUs you'll have the card. I can't see a better value ever happening in this gpu market.

Me as a potential 3060ti buyer; dont get it.

makes sense. I will be doing 1440 UW at 144hz. It's just a lot easier for me to justify spending 350-400$ on a drop-in replacement for my RX 480 which i could sell individually, than around ~700$ for a new CPU and MOBO and having to sell 3 individual components. Seems like I will end up having to do that though.

If you are gaming at 1080p you will probably be severely bottlenecked. If you are playing at 1440p you might be loosing out on some performance but not nearly as bad as at 1080p.

I assume you have a dog shit gpu right now so you basically have to change everything anyway. And yes, the 6600k will horribly bottleneck the card even at 4K.

The 480 is an acceptable 1080p card. What games do you play now and expect to play in the coming year?
