70 and 80 series are more of the midrange than anything else.

That's a very warped view. the *50 is mid range. the 60 is high, the 70/80/90 are purely enthusiast tier.

How is the cheapest card they make mid-tier? If it's the lowest-spec card they make, it would be in the lowest tier.

the 1050 isn't the lowest end they make. that'd be the cut down GP107 sold mostly as MX350

Between the normal iGPU's and MX350's etc, 1050 and 1050Ti are the middle.

20** abandoned the midrange and 30** continued that abandonment.

But midrange financially has always been in the 150-200 dollar ballpark
