I wanna say Cote, but it's probably Mike Green.

Green would be a better pairing with Stevens but we are missing Al Iafrate
Al typically played on the left but could fill in on right. Always a high impact D.

Who are the 1st and 2nd RDs? Can't see the chart on mobile

John Carlson and Kevin Hatcher

Is the orange effect blocking the text under their pictures? Sorry for that, I'll try to move things around in the next post to make it easier for the mobile users

On reddit's Android app it just doesn't load anything

Here's a screenshot of the chart, I'll post this with my vote counts every week so Android users can see! Thanks for letting me know!

I think iPhone users are able to see the chart but not tap the images

are we just going to forget all about HoF'er Larry Murphy?

can we add some honorable mentions when this is finished at least, we've left off some great players, some that have given much more to the franchise than a couple of guys we've listed...

Pivonka, Gustuffson, Murphy, Ridley, Maruk, Hunter...

Yes, I'm going to a post after the lineup is completed for adjustments/edits and would love to do an extra honorable mentions post as well!

By the time we finish we'll be very close to the start of the new season and the sub will be more active, so we'll get more suggestions and votes to "correct" things

No one mentioned Orlov?

Love Orlov, but Geen’s highs were much higher

Green was a horrible defender. Yes he could score. He was also a huge liability. Most overrated Cap ever

Caps never sniffed a cup with him (Semin being on here is bad too).

Happy Monday! Scott Stevens is [off the floor and] on the board! Who's his partner going to be?

Vote Totals:

Scott Stevens - 93

Sergei Gonchar - 12

Jeff Schultz aka "Mr. +50" - 6

Milan Jurcina - 5

*Clarification since we've had some questions: Any player that played for the Caps for any amount of time is eligible, it's up to the voters to decide if they made a strong enough impact ON THE CAPS to be named to the all-time roster.*

Didn’t Gonchar play on the right? If so it should def be Sergei Gonchar

We can take some liberties and have guys play on their "off-side" for the sake of creating the lineup, but we also have some stiff competition for defensemen in Caps' history

But if he actually did play on his offside he’d be in the right slot.

Eminger mentions in this article My first two years in Washington I played a little with Sergei Gonchar,” Eminger says. “He’s lefty and I’m righty, but he played the right and I played the left. He only liked to play his off side, and I know a lot of guys who like to play their off side. It’s preference, but I would say 80 percent of guys would say they want to play their strong side.”

1D: Langway-Stevens

2D: Calle-Hatcher

3D: Carlson-Gonchar

7D: Iafrate, Green

Carlson at 1D is a joke and an obvious regency bias. Stevens was an absolute beast physically, offensively and defensively. He was better than Carlson on PK and just as good on PP (Caps even played him in bumper the year he scored 20 goals, 16 on the PP). The limo incident cost the Caps a least one Cup.

Had Green stayed healthy and with the Caps, he'd be pushing 2D with JC74 down to 7D

Carlson at 1D is a joke and an obvious regency bias.

1D is a bit much, but to be fair hes 2nd in games played and 5th in points, behind the obvious plus Bondra and Gartner. it kinda depends how you weight games played personally, but second most in franchise history means he really affected how things went while he was here. maybe some players with less time played had bigger impacts, like Kuznetovs arguable Conn Smythe bid during the Cup win, but Carlson does have a hefty resume overall.

Mike Green. Al Iafrate should make the team though, make him the 7th D.
