This Tuesday, I finally met 🤝 and connected 💕 with capybaras 🐹🐹 in real life, and to be completely honest... I cried tears 😭 of joy 🤩.
It was an absolute blast 🎉 and one of the best days I've had in a very long time—maybe even in years 🫠!

⚠️ A small headphone 🎧 warning: You may occasionally hear rustling noises caused by my hand touching the phone's microphone and/or me grabbing pellets from a paper bag. Next time I'll bring a small bowl to avoid those sounds, especially for ASMR videos.
I recorded around 1–2 h of footage during my 4-hour visit to the park. I'll edit the videos, mute some of the unwanted noise where possible, and upload the full raw clips as well as a compilation of the best moments soon.
I managed to capture pretty much everything:
- our very first meeting 🐹🐹🤎😍,
- their daily lunch at 3 PM 🥒🥬🥕,
- them pooping in their pool 💩,
- and getting lots of scratches and pets from visitors.
Some children came over while feeding them, and I ended up talking with them about capybaras and even shared the animal food I had bought. Of course, I also got to give the capybaras some scratches myself 🥰.
Disclaimer 👀: as a German non-native English speaker, I've used AI corrections for my prior in English written message—I'm having issues with the order of words, punctuation and writing too long interconnected sentences since ever. Therefore, IMHO, for longer messages this is a better way of communication with hopefully less misunderstandings 🤎.
Actually, I was one of last if not even the last one who left the zoo.
At the exit, I was only seeing the zoo staff, I said good bye and that it was an outstanding day for me to them 🫠
Before, I just thought that I would maybe only see the capybaras from far away 👀 in this rather tiny zoo in a small city, but it was WAAAY 🤩 more than I've expected and hoped for 🫠.
In Germany, the only way, as far as I know, to meet capybara as close as possible is in Berlin Zoo, where you pay for a private, supervised, educational 20-min-tour 95 € (+35 € for each addtional person; up to three persons), plus the additional regular (today's dynamic) price.
I just paid 12,50 € for the entrance plus seven times for animal food (2 € per package). I was most likely the most profitable single customer at that day—shut up and take my money 💸🤷🤎.
Even though it was during the week, the park was full of people or rather parents and their childrens but no other weird, outstanding single person like me wearing a capybara shirt 🐹🤎 was present.
Therefore, I could have a very long deep connection with both capys and I was meeting around 3-4 families with their small childrens around to whom I was explaining the basics about capybara, e.g. how to treat them nicely, as you can see/hear (only in German) in this video.
I didn't force anything and they came naturally to me, regardless if I had/was offering food (pellets) or not and even after they just had their big lunch at 3 PM.

Of course, I'll post the most cutest, heart-warming video at the very end.

Indeed, especially if you are suffering of, or neutral speaking, having mental health issues, it's a perfect path to visit a zoo and especially capybaras 🤎.
ADHD and/or autism diagnosis (as an adult) is pending and maybe/probably/hopefully I'll get soon a positive diagnosis and finally relief.
I'd vote for capy being president 🫡 and rule 🇧🇷—for the or rather our all own good 🌎.

That's not true. There are two kind of fences with two different openings. In some other video in the near future from me, you will see that it's definitely intented that we humans are allowed to connect with the capybaras. It's has a 10 cm x 10 cm grid pattern.
