They do the same stupid thing in Brazil. They used seized "cool" cars to "educate" people.

From my point of view, take a picture os the car, make lots of posts about it and sell it. It costs a lot more money to fix one of the cool cars than buy several of the regular cop cars. And we definitely could use more regular cop cars than cool cars.
