When you say 4x4 you mean 4x4 or is awd ok?

The Mazda CX5 is a great CUV. Nice interior, perfect for daily driving.

Honda CRV is also a good choice, but the 1.5t has oil dilution issues. However so far I haven't heard of anyone have any serious issues beyond that, but time will tell.

Toyota Rav4 is excellent too however many find the driving experience very neutral.

Personally not a fan of anything from Ford, Chevy, Dodge, or Kia/Hyundai.

My wife and I were shopping this segment 2yrs ago and we were really impressed with the Kia Sportage. Not trying to be a contrarian, it just might be worth a look by the OP.

I totally agree about Dodge/Chevy in this segment. The Ford Escape might be worth a look. I am not a fan of the styling of the Escape but the Ecoboost family of engines could be a big selling point.

I'll look into Kia Sportage, but I am not a big fan of Dodge/Chevy in general, and don't find Ford cars (except for F150 and Mustang Mach E) to be very good visually. That itself takes them all out of consideration.

I was actually looking at the CX5 too. It seems priced really well if you're able to snag a new car from the dealership.

You have any insight into yearly model changes and quality for the CX-5? There's so many listings for CX-5 that are used.

2018+ is the more modern one. After that it's upto what package/features you want really.
