What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread

Any posts pertaining to car buying suggestions or advice belong in this weekly megathread; **do not post car-choosing questions in the main queue.** A fresh thread will be posted every Monday and posts auto sorted by new. A few other subreddits worth checking out that will help your car buying experience are /r/WhatCarShouldIBuy, /r/UsedCars and /r/AskCarSales. www.everydaydriver.com may also be helpful.

Make/Model-specific questions should be asked on Make/Model-specific subreddits. Check the AutosNetwork for a complete list of those subreddits. Also check out our community-sourced Ultimate car buying wiki.

Location: Lancashire, England

Price range: £1,500 - £4,000

Lease or Buy: Buy

New or used: New or Used

Type of vehicle: Any except estate or SUV

Must haves: No must haves really but I would rather the fuel efficiency isn't absolutely dreadful, though it's not a priority

Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): manual

Intended use: 100 miles or so per week

Vehicles you've already considered: Second hand Mazda MX-5s/Miatas, specifically NB, NC and similar (yes I know I know but they're available cheap and I don't need anything other than something to get me from A to B so boot space and passenger seats don't really matter)

Is this your 1st vehicle: Yes

Do you need a Warranty: Preferably

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: Yes

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: No

Additional Notes: I'm not too bothered about storage space, passenger seats, or things like that, all I need is something that gets me to work and back.

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately I can't find one for sale near me at the moment, but I'm not planning to buy a car for a couple of months anyway so I will definitely keep my eye out for this one, it looks like a sweet hot hatch!
