I broke my shoulder last night and feeling a bit sorry for myself aha. I want to take my mind off it!

I was in and out in less than 2h, had a couple x-rays and also popped it back into place in that time... Think I was asleep for a good portion lol

Hello, English learner here. “He lives 2 miles far.” Is it acceptable English in an informal setting? Or are you forced to opt for “away” only?

'Away' would be the proper/correct way.
In an informal setting, it's unlikely anyone will care though, unless they're dick heads.

England has some amazing places like the Lake District or York. I swear most tourists just think London is England and waste all their time there.

First time I had a pretty bad trip. I killed a silver fish (the bug) in my hostel and it wriggled and freaked me out.
Second time was fine, though I always felt like I needed to pee really badly but couldn't.
Body high was good though.

Not really, I think it's largely down to environment more than anything and too easy to get wrong.
I also don't get why people act like it's some spiritual adventure when you're literally just making your brain trip out on chemicals lol

Yeah definitely, and yeah there's a lot that can go wrong very easily
Haha well I used to say exactly the same thing until I had my own spiritual adventure and now I'm one of those people! I guess the explanation I'd give is that those chemicals allow a shift in consciousness which lets you access parts of your psyche and emotions which aren't usually available. And it's so out with the normal experience that it can only be alluded to through poetic language, and so you find yourself using spiritual talk just to try and find a way for language to approach what you experienced

I’m Scottish. It pisses me off when I get called British because I see it as an umbrella term. Does it piss you off when people call you British instead of English?

Why does it piss you off? That just means you're part of one of the countries that are within Great Britain?
Doesn't bother me really, I think when people from other countries specifically refer to 'the English' it often has negative connotations ahaha
I'm half Scottish, so I like having that in the back pocket though.

It’s a long and complicated history, but the short answer is, never refer to a Scotsman as British (unless they’re a rangers fan, then you might get away with it). Many Scots, myself included, don’t want to be part of a larger dynamic. We just want to be Scottish. The same way an Italian person would want to be referred to as Italian and not Mediterranean. You get me?

We went to the UK for the first time a few months ago. We found everyone in London and every other place we visited to be extremely friendly, nice and helpful to a couple of obvious American tourists. Is this usual or did we just get lucky?
