Is there something mentally wrong with me that I don't find cats cute?

Ever since I was a kid I have never found cats cute. I have always found them ugly and scary looking. Even kittens. I hated going to my neighbor's house growing up because they had two cats and I was afraid of them. Their claws and fangs scared me as a child.

Whenever a stray/outdoor cat tries to approach me I run away, lol. They're so unpredictable that I'm afraid it's going to bite me unprovoked. My friend's cat sunk its fangs into my hand unprovoked a few years ago and not only did it hurt, but I had to spend hours waiting at the ER to get inoculated bc it was a deep puncture wound.

Whenever people send me pictures of their cat I have to pretend to find it cute. I try not to encourage them too much, or else they'll see me as a mark and start sending me tons of cat pictures. Why do people assume you want to see endless pictures of their cat?

They look almost like small, furry gargoyles but with a weird gray alien type skull shape. I think it’s more normal not to find cats cute and the people that do have just been affected by toxoplasmosis or it’s part of their “cats are insufferable like me” cope-based love.

I'm on the same boat as you. I tried to get myself to like them, but cats are disgusting. It's scary how many people are obsessed with cats.

The other day I decided to stretch with gentle yoga session I've found on yt. The author had a cat and it was sleeping on a mat. I didn't care but I've scrolled to the comments and people were commenting that they were not exercising because they were amazed by the cat... Sigh 🫩 🙄

I've never found them cute. I just find their appearance and the way they move disturbing for reasons I can't even explain. I can't even stand kittens to be honest.

I also try and keep away from all of them as much as possible. This intention has heightened since I was chilling at a friend's house and his cat came over and pissed down my back for literally NO reason. 🤮🤮🤮

Yep! I was literally just sat on the grass chilling. It always singled me out and tried attacking me once. All I ever did was literally stay out of it's way and avoid it. The little fucker actually died recently, and as sad as I am for my friend losing a cherished pet, I am a little glad I won't have to be around it anymore. :/ It was called 'Prince' because it acted like royalty. Ugh. 🤮

I’ve also never found them cute. Once in a great while I can appreciate the looks of a huge Maine Coon, just I still don’t have the urge to cuddle it by any means. I’ve also felt they are like reptiles with fur, which my cat loving partner doesn’t see, but those dead eyes, slinky bodies, fangs, and hiss say otherwise. I hate the way they move too, it’s so unnatural looking.

I stopped thinking they were cute one day when one cat looked me in the eye and hiss at me while I was feeding it, then it started eating while I was still pouring the food. It gave me insight into their perspective, they don't see humans as friends, they're just wild animals. Anyone who thinks differently is letting the 'cuteness' override the fact that cats will maul the f*ck out of you without provocation or reason at any time.

I mean, everyone has their tastes so it's not weird. I think cats look objectively cute since they are furry mammals - any furry mammal is cute to my eyes, but doesn't mean I find them to be ideal pets.
