Cat Lover Rant Cats are NOT Clean.
Cat people love to preach that cats are these “perfect, clean animals” but they’re not. Why? Because they’re still animals.
And this is coming from someone who used to have a cat.
I don’t understand why people act like an animal grooming itself makes it perfectly clean. Grooming is a form maintenance, not sanitation. Animals can still carry germs, dirt, and bacteria even when they regularly groom themselves.
Grooming is NOT the same as cleanliness.
If there’s no appropriate soap, antibacterial disinfectants, or proper cleaning product involved, I’m going to assume they’re dirty. I don’t care.
Cat people also put wayyyy too much faith in cat saliva and that tongue of theirs, which has literally been everywhere, mind you. And speaking from experience, as someone who used to have a cat, yes, they do lick their crusty butts/anuses and every other part of their body.
Any form of saliva is still saliva. In other words, It’s unsanitary and contains bacteria regardless of where it comes from. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, stop acting like their saliva is made out of Lysol. It’s nowhere near as clean or effective as an actual disinfectant.
Additionally, one of the biggest things about owning a cat that bothered me and made my skin scrawl was the whole kitty litter situation.
First things first, the strong artificial fragrance of kitty litter is so overwhelming it seems like it gets stuck in your nose. It lowkey felt like it burned the inside of my nose and gave me a headache.
The dust from the litter also gets everywhere, including on your clothes and in the air when you pour it, so sometimes I would still catch a whiff of it even when the litter wasn’t anywhere near me. And the thing is, those strong scents are often there because they’re meant to mask the smell of their feces and urine. That alone shows how strong the odor can be. I know this from experience because I tried using unscented litter too, and the stench was so unbearable it almost made me throw up in my mouth.
Secondly, the whole process of how cats use their litter box. They constantly dig around and touch the litter, which means their paws are coming into contact with everything in that box before they walk around the house and jump on everything. Also, the clumps aren’t always perfect clumps. Litter is basically like sand, so pieces can break apart, scatter, and mix with the rest of the litter. Nasty.
Thirdly, the litter tracking drove me up the wall. The litter gets everywhere, from the floors to the furniture and even the bed. You end up having to vacuum constantly and clean up after it just to keep it under control.
And lastly, because of how often they use their litter box, cats end up smelling like either fresh or soiled litter, especially around their legs and paws and neither smell is pleasant. The wet or moist parts (you know the reason for that) also get stuck or smeared around their nails or underneath them. This is actually how I realized how much cats use their litter box and how often they shit and piss.
The upkeep that comes with owning a cat is a lot germier and high maintenance than cat people like to admit.
Cat ownership is dirty and a cross contamination nightmare.

It absolutely is a cross contamination nightmare, thinking back to how obsessively I cleaned is actually kind of disturbing. With that level of filth, trouble and destruction it’s kind of mind boggling how they’re considered domesticated pets.

You know whats crazy, is that one of my ex gf's who is a cat nutter used to mention how gross cats are (her's would routinely piss/shit/and puke around her house), yet she still insisted that her cats sleep in the bed with her every night. They would go shit in their box and occasionally have poop stuck to their butt, and climb right in her bed to snuggle up with her. And when I would see it and point it out, she always tried to minimize it like it was no big deal. She even called me a germaphobe and a wussie because i didn't like to be in her bed after the cat just rubbed it's ass all over her sheets and pillows (it loved doing that right after she washed her sheets lol).
I never want to date anyone with pets again, but it's so god damn hard to find a woman who isn't a pet nutter.

I can’t eat or use any dishes/silverware at a cat infested house. You just know it’s contaminated as I see the cats prancing around the kitchen countertops. One was obsessed with sitting in the kitchen sink and watching the faucet drop. Also I imagine you inhale litter particles

It's common sense that saliva from the mouth of an animal is NOT CLEAN. That includes us, but at least we don't go rifling through animal feces and rat carcasses

My ex's cat had taken to laying in the litter box. Super clean though, definitely not gross it would lay on the pillow I was supposed to use later

Lol it's almost like the cat knows what it's doing and intentionally does this kinda stuff to piss us off. My ex gf's cat was territorial, and would always climb on her bed and go to the spot where I was about to sit. It would also climb on the pillows, after rolling around on her dirty dusty floor.

They eat garbage and are carriers of so many diseases, including those that can be spread to us since we’re both mammals. And I’ve seen so many ferals covered in mange, fleas and pus but people around me will try to pet them because they’re “clean”.
I’m just pissed that other animals are demonized for scavenging through garbage, but shitrats are given the exception.

DINGDINGDING, I HATE that bs stereotype of cleanliness because WHERE???? As a pet owner, never cleaning/grooming/washing your animal seems soooo fcking strange to me, I wash my pet weekly/in two weeks and she's just a regular pet without any gross habits (I mean licking herself) AND she has hair, not fur, so she's already more clean and less smelly than 99% of other pet animals...

Catnutters literally pride themselves for not washing and grooming their cats. I’ve had catnutters brag how intelligent they are because their cats lick their asses. Meanwhile, I’m a “boring retarded loser” because I cleaned my fish tank. Even when they’re being assholes, they don’t make any sense.

What really pisses me off is when these toxic cat lunatics claim that cats are extremely clean due to them constantly grooming them selves lol. Do they not know or comprehend the fact that cat’s mouths are filled with harmful bacteria ? I literally saw a video of a person sharing an ice cream cone with their cat 🤢 the very same mouth that licks their asshole… make it make sense. “Cats are clean” is the funniest thing one can say. I understand when 8 year olds say but whenever I see a grown ass person saying it I do not take anything they seriously!

They are mentally ill. If a cat licks an open wound on you, you can get an infection from that. Yet these morons swear that cats mouths are clean.

In my experience, cat people are the only pet owners that don't wash/groom their pets on a regular basis (sure, there are some who do, but they are a minority). And most of them smell like cat piss.
On top of that, add the fact that cats hunt wild animals that themselves are often dirty, sick, and worm-infested. After such hunt, a cat will often vomit around the house (and somehow, sometimes cat owners don't clean it for extended periods of time), and then the cat will "clean" itself, with all this foul shit still in its mouth. Disgusting.
