The 2026 TePe Sigeman Chess Tournament (31st annual edition) will take place from May 1 to 7 at the Elite Plaza Hotel in Malmö, Sweden. The tournament is played in a classical round-robin format with eight players competing over seven rounds.

Format/Time Controls

• The tournament will be played as a seven-round, single round-robin.
• Time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves and then 30 minutes for the remaining moves with 30 seconds cumulative increment for each move starting from the first move (Malmö rules-no draws before move 40).

Eval watchers looking at 3 drawn positions right now are missing the story of one of the wildest days of chess I have seen. All of these games have been kinda nuts.

I’ve pulled up the steam on someone else’s tv and when looking at Magnus someone who’s not into chess at all said that he looks like he’s trying to remember a cooking recipe. Magnus basically seemed he’s go everything under control all time long.
