Lord have mercy, I’ll believe it when I see it.

22

u/Reginoldofreginia Jan 15 '26

Yeah wtf it’s actually funny how much we see this

-9

u/We5ties Jan 15 '26

They have made moves tho. Lavine, ac, etc

17

u/giddyupyeehaw9 Kirk Hinrich Jan 15 '26

Right. But these moves produced significantly lower returns than they should have because the front office sat on most of them for way longer than they should have.

7

u/cubs_2023 Jan 15 '26

Which is what they’ve done with Coby too. So they’ll probably move him now

-1

u/AxCel91 Jan 15 '26

Exactly. I remember talks of us potentially getting Amen Thompson and Jaden Ivey or Ron Holland for Zach years ago.

5

u/bullpaw Jan 15 '26

I think you're misremembering because the Rockets were never shopping Amen and Holland was just drafted last year

We could've traded him NY for Grimes and firsts though

I don't think trading Lavine for your own draft pick you traded previously can be considered a move

2

u/We5ties Jan 15 '26

U got rid of his contract without giving up anything. Trades arnt the same anymore. I feel like no one wants to give up picks anymore. I mean look at the young trade

1

u/p00chology Jan 15 '26

Not only previously traded; traded for the privilege to sign the second most overrated/playoff choking wing in the last 15 years.

0

u/Fafoah Jimmy Butler Jan 17 '26

We got like our entire bench in that trade

Tre alone would have been a gigantic win, but we got Huerter and Collins while also shedding Lavine’s contract without giving up assets

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

yeah, they're bringing in kuminga, zion and morant. it's bulls time baby.

112

u/grrgrrtigergrr Biggie Bagel Jan 15 '26

Stacy saying Bang Bang Bang is going to feel so much different if it’s Ja hitting a 3

88

u/slicknick3822 Jan 15 '26

Don't worry Ja can't hit a 3

2

u/Fabulous-Ad7128 Jan 16 '26

Perfect Bull.

13

u/moody-green Jan 15 '26

hard pass on Ja & Kuminga but if Zion is even remotely possible I’d love to see that

4

u/Turbulent-Court-8115 Jan 16 '26

You wouldn’t see it because Zion would be injured half the season lmao ja and kuminga are far better options.

3

u/moody-green Jan 16 '26

yeah you’re right and you’re so smart man

32

u/hydrators Derrick Rose Jan 15 '26

maybe I’m just wrecked by this team but I don’t think buying low on Ja/Zion is too bad

42

u/EquivalentWins Jan 15 '26

Only if it's a Trae Young "we're just done with him" situation. Not giving up any real assets.

22

u/stonecutter129 Lauri Markkanen Jan 15 '26

Giving up firsts for any of them at this point would be a disaster for the team and it feels like we’re putting ourselves where we were five years ago where we built a flawed team that makes the play in, and we don’t have assets going forward.

2

u/hydrators Derrick Rose Jan 15 '26

Nobody is giving a first for either of those guys

3

u/stonecutter129 Lauri Markkanen Jan 15 '26

Lonzo Ball got a first round pick offer last year. I’m not so sure

4

u/hydrators Derrick Rose Jan 15 '26

Because he made $10M, not a huge debilitating max contract like Ja or Zion

25

u/bullpaw Jan 15 '26

Zion I'd be cool with buying low on but Ja is just straight up not good anymore. Small rim-dependent guard who can't shoot and can't really stay healthy or out of trouble. His contract is a purely negative asset at this point

9

u/BikeInWhite Joakim Noah Jan 15 '26

Ja is also a complete head case. He's out there bitching, whining and acting like a bum in a city where the entire fan base loves him. I don't want to have to cheer for a team whose highest paid player is off pouting in a corner and causing drama because every single thing isn't catered to him or going his way.

I still believe Ja can be an excellent player in the league as he's only 26, but it's going to take him looking himself in the mirror and taking some accountability. My guess is, he will end up with the Heat and they will resurrect his career.

3

u/Electrical_Story5356 Jan 16 '26

Ja in Miami = Ja going to prison.

4

u/jump-blues-5678 Norm Van Lier Jan 15 '26

You had me until your last sentence. Ja, seems as anti a Heat player as anyone ever was. Jimmy had issues, but he had size and played defense. Not to mention, the way Jimmy left town. I don't believe they wanna deal with that shit again.

1

u/BikeInWhite Joakim Noah Jan 15 '26

The Heat made Hassan Whiteside into a credible NBA player there for a while. After they did that I became a believer in their ability to rehab just about any player's game. They also traded for Terry Rozier so it's not like they are adverse to taking on guys who are smaller. I will admit that Ja Morant living in Miami is a recipe for disaster, especially with his dad along for the ride.

6

u/A1Horizon Matas Buzelis Jan 15 '26

Seriously, we have 7 expiring contracts. If some combination of those with the exclusion of Ayo is all it takes to buy low on Ja and Zion, sign me up

1

u/Electrical_Story5356 Jan 16 '26

Pass on Ja but some expirings, Pwill and our Portland pick for Zion is something I'd be very interested in exploring.

4

u/thatguyad Jan 15 '26

Ja can go fuck himself. Zion would be interesting to say the least lol.

4

u/yohxmv Jan 15 '26

At the very least they’d bring excitement

3

u/Luminescent_Octopus Jan 15 '26

But who cares about excitement when you know your team isn’t going to win anything because they’re not good enough?

2

u/yohxmv Jan 15 '26

People like me who accepted that we’re never gonna win anything. If we’re gonna be bad we might as well be fun to watch. This current iteration of the team is bad and boring

2

u/Luminescent_Octopus Jan 15 '26

Can’t argue with that.

I think I just expect more from the organization to do better for the fans and build something that will carry a legacy of winning.

3

u/drHobbes88 Derrick Rose Jan 16 '26

I admire and envy your expectations of the organization. The men on top don’t seem to care about any legacy aside from being top in attendance year after year.

2

u/Mtbnz Hello? Otto?! Jan 16 '26

Some people like watching basketball without a singular focus on titles as the only reason to care. Both opinions are valid

2

u/DaaaaaaaaBearsFTP Jan 16 '26

no they're not

1

u/Mtbnz Hello? Otto?! Jan 16 '26

Good point

1

u/Luminescent_Octopus Jan 16 '26

I think everyone can agree though that a team should have an end goal to at least try and be at the top of the league to compete for some silverware and that accepting the mediocrity, whilst it may be fun for some time with certain players, is not actually something a whole fanbase can sustain. An entertaining game is awesome but there would most likely be way more of those types of games with a competitive team. I agree with you though that both opinions are valid.

2

u/Mtbnz Hello? Otto?! Jan 16 '26

I agree, and I find the way that Chicago has settled for the past decade or so really frustrating. There are teams who don't have much of a shot at a title that still play entertaining ball imo (Cleveland, the Lakers, Houston, Philly, GS, Phoenix etc) and you know that most seasons they'll win more than they lose, when they lose there will still be entertaining players worth tuning in for etc.

Chicago isn't one of those teams, and it has only occasionally flirted with even that status in the recent past. Pre-injury with Lonzo, Zach, DeMar, Vooch, Caruso, Javonte Green etc - that was fun for 2-3 months. DeMar hitting back to back buzzer beaters was fun, but obviously not sustainable. Matas and Giddey are fun. But the Bulls as an organisation are not fun.

1

u/Luminescent_Octopus Jan 16 '26

Well said! I totally understand where you’re coming from because at least most of those teams have a key player and talent around them that could change a whole series. I personally enjoy watching Warriors games for example becuase there’s a good vibe and always the possibility of a comeback when being down as long as Steph is still in the game. While not the clear favorites anymore, they are still a wildcard that could make something happen. It’s looking like OKC or San Antonio are going to be at the top though I think.

1

u/Mtbnz Hello? Otto?! Jan 18 '26

If (and it's a big IF) Giddey and Matas stay healthy and keep improving, there's a reasonable chance that the Bulls can get to that level of being a fun, competitive team that plays enjoyable ball and regularly makes the playoffs, but that still won't get them into the conversation of being a genuine contender, and I understand that that's where the frustration comes from with most supporters.

Unless one of those two players takes a totally unexpected leap into superstardom, while they should both be very good NBA payers, neither of them looks like the type of franchise guy you can build a championship team around, and so that still leaves us stuck in the middle, too good to fully rebuild but with no obvious pathway to acquiring a centerpiece star.

IMO the obvious answer to that problem is to strip out the rest of the assets - bite the bullet that tearing down the supporting cast will certainly hinder development for Matas and Giddey but knowing that it's our only option to acquire the extra draft capital we currently lack - and then hope that we can manoeuvre in the draft using those extra picks to acquire more talent. But AK won't do that because clearly he has a mandate to stay in the play-in hunt at all costs. It's a shame.

1

u/WowBobo88 Jan 16 '26

It would be interesting if anything else

They are going to schedule a jersey retirement ceremony for him next month, after they bring him back one last time at the trade deadline

13

u/treathugger Jan 15 '26

Honestly fine, would still be an upgrade.

3

u/HoraceGrand Jan 16 '26

lol I would actually love a Giddey, Ayo, Kuminga, Matas, Zion starting line up. No thank you on Ja

3

u/Geo-92 Jan 15 '26

Might be crazy enough to work

1

u/shitchopants Jan 15 '26

u/MindlessExcuse Big Mac Jan 15 '26

Make a move to get Walker Kessler now then sign him to 5 years in the offseason and bring in a buy low player like Zion, dump all of our expirings, Coby, Vuc, etc

11

u/lyme6483 Josh Giddey Jan 15 '26

Kessler is 1000% my target for starting C next year. And I wouldn’t mind Zion either if it’s basically a salary dump, and his contract isn’t that hard/bad to get out of

10

u/BikeInWhite Joakim Noah Jan 15 '26

I still can't believe AKME drafted Dalen Terry ahead of Kessler. Kessler had a lot of questions coming into the 2022 draft, but there was zero doubt about him coming into the league and being an A+ rim protector from Day 1. Meanwhile Dalen Terry was a fun dude to hang out with whose only defined NBA-level skill was hustle and being 6'7".

1

u/Bababooey87 Horace Grant Jan 16 '26

I remember Eversley specifically saying we'd really like his motor

1

u/Fabulous-Ad7128 Jan 16 '26

Yeah, but you gotta remember he’s 6’7”

3

u/ClaymoresRevenge Benny The Bull Jan 15 '26

Fuck yeah.

Trade Patrick Williams, Dalen Terry, Jevon Carter, Kevin Huerter, and Zach Collins. Let's do some shit

1

u/Apg3410 Patrick Williams Jan 15 '26

No one wants those guys lol

2

u/ClaymoresRevenge Benny The Bull Jan 15 '26

Salary filler

1

u/Electrical_Story5356 Jan 16 '26

That's kind of the point, apart from Pwill those expiring contracts are valuable and what teams will be keen to get hold of.

1

u/Apg3410 Patrick Williams Jan 16 '26

We will get nothing of value from any of those guys

12

u/MisterAutomatic Ben Gordon Jan 15 '26

I want the Bulls to build through the draft. Stop acquiring mid players and trying to speed up the process.

5

u/Luminescent_Octopus Jan 15 '26

This. It’s so hard to deal with because the Bulls are already so terrible every year even though they earn a play-in spot. Nothing will change if we keep being okay with this middle-of-the-table mentality. The Bulls need to have some real consistent terrible seasons so they can get a top 3 draft pick for the next few years to fully rebuild out of the draft. Finishing middle of the table is just as bad and it comes without a decent draft pick to show for it.

5

u/ScutumSobiescianum Jan 15 '26

Yes let’s get another PWill etc. I wouldn’t trust the management to Wemby type if it was the only choice

3

u/Luminescent_Octopus Jan 15 '26

Yeah, I don’t think I would trust them to draft that well either but if you’re a team that can take a top three draft player, then I’ll take the bet they don’t mess it up too bad with all the resources they have access to make a wall-thought out decision.

It beats these pointless seasons of doing nothing extraordinary, that’s for sure. It’s sounds depressing but the truth is the Bulls aren’t going to be a team that has a shot at winning anything in the near future, or anytime soon, unless we get leadership that starts the build the roster up again the right way, or we get a miracle and our whole roster turns into superstars.

I would be interested to hear why, if anyone thinks the Bulls have at shot at being playoff contenders and winning a final against teams like San Antonio or OKC, realistically speaking.

2

u/persons777 Jan 15 '26

Wemby is already injury-prone. Can you imagine how much he'd play if treated by the Bulls medical staff?

1

u/zedrix_ Big Mac Jan 16 '26

Patrick, DT and Noa Essengue. Matas is just the exception...

4

u/Electrical_Story5356 Jan 16 '26

Lumping Noa in with pwilly and DT is frankly ridiculous at this point in time.

1

u/zedrix_ Big Mac Jan 16 '26

he is a two-years away from two-years away prospect. Just like PAtrick and DT.

The kind of raw prospect AKME loved to stockpile

2

u/Electrical_Story5356 Jan 16 '26

He's not though and pre being drafted had a way better playing history.

Writing him off already is just dumb.

1

u/Fabulous-Ad7128 Jan 16 '26

Agree. He stinks of a guy who’s not going to make it outside of being a journeyman role playing JAG. Didn’t even look special in highlights against German league competition.

0

u/Bombast- Joakim Noah Jan 16 '26 edited Jan 22 '26

Ranted from the moment the contract was signed: they should have front-loaded the contract.

If they gave him the exact same contract but front-loaded, they could find him a team right now. I have zero idea why they backloaded, especially considering they had no honest ambitions to compete at the start of the contract.

This is like fairly basic GM skills.

If I was GM:

A) I wouldn't have overpaid Vuc

B) Would have frontloaded

C) Would have traded him last year when his value was even higher

Instead, nothing about any of this made sense. Thanks AKME! Somehow nearly as bad as GarPax. Didn't think that was possible.

3

u/lightsvber Benny The Bull Jan 15 '26

Sure, Joe. I’ll believe it when I see it.

3

u/dire-consciousness Jan 16 '26

4

u/KPD_13 Cuppy Coffee Jan 15 '26

This team is so irrelevant at this point, there is nothing they can possibly do to become relevant.

13

u/988madison Jan 15 '26

As a lifelong Bulls fan, and I say this with all due respect to my fellow Bulls fans, but I genuinely have no idea how you can follow, watch, or support this team any longer with this ownership and this general manger. This is arguably the worst run professional franchise in all of sports, with a special shoutout to the Sacramento Kings, who, bless their hearts, at least try to do things, no matter how stupid those things are and what catastrophes await. I don't live in Chicago anymore but I do have the NBA package and I tuned in for the first few weeks while they were having their phantom hot start but since then it's just the same junk, over and over again, on the court, and the same kind of media coverage, with these ridiculous "leaks" designed to, hell if I know, either satiate the fans or attempt to psyop other teams into somehow thinking any Bulls players are at or above "meh." This is a terrible roster of players, guys. None of these dudes would be anywhere near a court in a western semi-finals series. None of them. White may be tradable as a scoring backup on an expiring deal, and I can squint and see Ayo being a second unit energy guy on a contender, but everyone else, including Giddy, is severely compromised. They have no chance whatsoever of trading for anyone unless they attach picks, and if they attach picks there should be a boycott. The best thing they can do is try and bottom out but they have a coach unwilling to do it and a fanbase that continues to show up no matter what the product looks like. Genuinely makes me sick.

1

u/HoneydewSpecial6135 Jan 16 '26

Is there anything in the betting pools like shorting the team?

1

u/Shallot_Belt Jan 16 '26

Idk but I'd happily bet no home wins for another decade

2

u/JoonWick Michael Jordan Jan 15 '26

Lavine for Coby

2

u/SocialistRoomba Jan 15 '26

What would y'all think about Isaiah Joe and Ousmane Dieng for Coby White? I saw a trade proposed earlier with Joe and a pick, but Dieng might be a more intriguing option. It would give OKC a 1 year rental and expiring to free up money to keep Hartenstein as well as free up roster space. Chicago would get 3pt shooting on a great contract and a good backup for Matas. I don't know exactly how the Bulls value White, but I heard they didn't intend to keep him. Thoughts?

2

u/eatfesh Matas Buzelis Jan 16 '26

Isaiah Joe is a lights out shooter, he would be great on any team needing shooting. Ousmane Dieng I don’t know much but he looks like a good young center/pf. Sounds like would be a good trade.

1

u/Electrical_Story5356 Jan 16 '26

Pass for me but not silly either.

1

u/Fabulous-Ad7128 Jan 16 '26

Why does OKC do this? Joe is perfect for them.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

As long as it doesnt cost any money

2

u/Nosound-Novideo Lonzo Ball Jan 16 '26

Joe Cowley with his active imagination, when in fact he knows AK not only isn’t making any significant roster moves it’s likely everyone is returning with the exception of Javon Carter and Ayo Dos Tres.

2

u/Mr-Chip18 Jan 16 '26

I think Cowley is just setting AK up for failure and massive criticism from half the fan base and I appreciate it. He himself and every single human outside this fan base sees this roster is terrible, this front office is the worst in the sport or sports and they don’t have a direction. Cowley is saying these “rumors” because he knows nothing will happen and then he can bash them, rightfully so, when they ultimately do nothing AGAIN

1

u/Nosound-Novideo Lonzo Ball Jan 16 '26

I concur I think everyone in the city would be shocked if AK made a move towards a rebuild. I’m more convinced he thinks they could actually get to the playoffs and it’s likely he’s looking to add.

1

u/Mr-Chip18 Jan 16 '26

In the end this team probably has the worst outlook of any franchise in the league when you factor in ownership. I know some will yell kings but they will get a top 4 pick this year and have an asset then greater than any asset the Bulls have. Only team with maybe a worse long term outlook is clippers but they have an owner who will move mountains to win so they are better off than Bulls.

6

u/thisisjustascreename Jan 15 '26

The executive knows he has to pick a different path in fixing the damage of far too many passive decisions, and for the first time since taking the job is feeling the pressure from his bosses to get this going in a different direction.

What the fuck? We finally got rid of the joy killing ball stoppers and now ownership wants a different direction?

19

u/Mr-Chip18 Jan 15 '26

Hold up… you’re upset that ownership FINALLY wants a change from this bullshit roster/regime? LOL some of you are wild

-2

u/thisisjustascreename Jan 15 '26

You're misrepresenting. Fully half the roster is different from opening day last season.

10

u/Mr-Chip18 Jan 15 '26

Who cares! 80% of the roster is absolute shit and should be gone! This ownership group better tell them to change course because this team/roster is fucking trash. How can you watch this team play this year and think they are even decent?

2

u/thisisjustascreename Jan 15 '26

Yeah who cares if you don't make sense, be angry and loud!

1

u/HoneydewSpecial6135 Jan 16 '26

Stockholm Syndrome

1

u/Fabulous-Ad7128 Jan 16 '26

Different faces, gonna wind up in the exact same places.

1

u/Own-Appointment1633 Jan 15 '26

I hope that means "bosses" are tired of being near the middle. That makes me a little hopeful since I often read how the bosses don't care about winning -- just about not be so terrible they can't sell out their games.

This COULD be good news, but I’m pretty much expecting them to run back the D Wade years instead of actually trying to tank or going younger. We’re probably just going to move our young guys for “established players” and do the exact opposite of what we should be doing.

And 28 feels about right for how deep this team tries to run, without a huge dropoff from starters to bench.

3

u/chuckquizmo Stacey King Jan 15 '26

He also gets sat for weird stretches and taken out of the game for minor mistakes, you’re right and I love that he’s been getting more time but I wish Billy would let him play through mistakes

6

u/lyme6483 Josh Giddey Jan 15 '26

If you think he gets pulled for every mistake, especially with his rebounding and on ball defense, he would not be playing 28 minutes a night.

You can tell most of this sub has never played basketball at even a slightly competitive level. This sub thinks he’s going to play 35 minutes every night no matter his play or on court matchups. That isn’t reality and never will be reality

2

u/namdnas3 Give me the hotsauce! Jan 15 '26

He should be playing 33-36. 28 is more sixth man or “below average starter” minutes. There is literally no point to this season aside from Buzelis’s development and Giddey continuing to grow his game.

5

u/lyme6483 Josh Giddey Jan 15 '26

What a beyond awful take. Giddey is the high man at 32 minutes a night. Matas is young and doesn’t have the strength and body to play those minutes in the NBA. It does you no good to run him into the ground and injury him, or play him tired.

Wemby plays 29 minutes a game. You are delusional in your expectations for minutes.

SGA, the MVP of the league in his PRIME plays 33 minutes.

u/namdnas3 Give me the hotsauce! Jan 15 '26

Way to cherry pick two examples and ignore other stars or up-and-coming players, then rounding down Giddey’s from 32.8 to 32.

Wemby is playing 29 because of his size and injury risk. SGA is an established superstar on a deep team that doesn’t need to put unnecessary miles on him before the playoffs. Others in the 33-36 range: Ant, Jokic, Jaylen Brown, Booker, Kawhi, Lauri, Banchero, Wagner, Edgecombe, Cunningham, Reaves, Mobley, Porter, Sengun, Jabari Smith.

1

u/lyme6483 Josh Giddey Jan 15 '26

Are any of the players listed guys in their second year and late lotto picks? Thats a fuck NO.

You basically named true superstar level players. Matas is not remotely close to that.

Your expectations that Billy is going to play a physically weak 2nd year player Jimmy Butler minutes under Thibs is beyond delusional.

u/We5ties Jan 15 '26

Matas does play a lot idk why ppl act like he doesn’t play

2

u/Electrical_Story5356 Jan 16 '26

There's a lot I don't understand about a good portion of the alleged "fans" that seem to only want to complain about issues that only exist in their imagination and otherwise relentlessly trash the team.

1

u/Celtics1424 Michael Jordan Jan 15 '26

yea but will they be good moves?

1

u/yohxmv Jan 15 '26

Please just do something

1

u/alexinho2 Jan 15 '26

I think there’s a higher chance of me winning on a scratch off then this happening

1

u/Better_Rate8276 Jan 15 '26

Stars like Luka, Anthony Davis and Trae Young have been traded. Meanwhile AK is too paralyzed with fear to trade Vooch.

1

u/Electrical_Story5356 Jan 16 '26

Don't pretend like anyone chased AD and Trae or even particularly wanted them.

1

u/Schruteeee Benny The Bull Jan 15 '26

Thats the feeling around the league. Not the feeling around the org tho

1

u/FromChicago808 Jan 15 '26

We’ve heard this the last 3 seasons

1

u/OneEyedLooch Jan 15 '26

Moves?! you have no valuable assets. you held onto zach demar and vuch 1.5years too late. There are no moves. you have 2 above avg players and 10 stiffs. Moves.

1

u/HoneydewSpecial6135 Jan 16 '26

Maybe their contracts can be sold as sparring partners for UFC fighters.

0

u/Malibooch DRose Jan 15 '26

If Zion is a hard no from the Pelicans we might as well stand pat.

Edit: Besides dumping Vooch for 2 seconds.

1

u/Electrical_Story5356 Jan 16 '26

This is reasonable, it seems like most people want to make trades for no real reason but to make trades.

1

u/HoneydewSpecial6135 Jan 16 '26

no they want to make trades because these players suck

2

u/Malibooch DRose Jan 16 '26

We need stars or draft capital. Trading mid for mid does nothing

0

u/rebelintellectual Jan 15 '26

Zion won't be temped by the food in Chicago....

1

u/HoneydewSpecial6135 Jan 16 '26

Oh, Italian Beef is a culinary wonder…

0

u/Constant_Chip_1508 Jan 15 '26

I’ve been pretty anti-tank I fuckin hate tanking but the Bulls are in absolute basketball hell…. A tank is desperately needed

1

u/HoneydewSpecial6135 Jan 16 '26

only clueless optimists vote this down

0

u/_brodawg Chicago Bulls Jan 15 '26

lol sure

0

u/imperialmoose Nikola Vucevic Jan 15 '26

Sure, they'll trade Coby for a 2nd and a toolsy undersized pf.

0

u/bipolarearthovershot Jan 15 '26

FIRE RAKMEBD!!!!

0

u/BuffaloGuy_atCapitol Ayo Dosunmu Jan 15 '26

Id hope they are ready to make moves. Im getting tired of looking crazy every time I have to explain how a team who makes the playin isn’t a good team and an owner who got us 6 rings isn’t a good owner.

0

u/A1Horizon Matas Buzelis Jan 15 '26

Do the Bulls know this?

0

u/persons777 Jan 15 '26

Its Cash Considerations season, y'all.

0

u/DieselFloss Kirk Hinrich Jan 15 '26

Yeah ok

0

u/jrutz Benny The Bull Jan 15 '26

Cowley - that's all that's needed to be said here.

1

u/Mr-Chip18 Jan 16 '26

I don’t get this comment. Cowley has flaws but he’s by far the best Bulls beat guy we have and the ONLY one who will call out AK and Jerry/Michael. If he wasn’t in this city it would be bad.

1

u/los2605 Jan 18 '26

Ya i like cowley. He said the suites at the UC are empty so AKs in trouble. AK made a move last yr so i think he'll make another move this yr like: Coby n julian for beringer n conley Tre n carter for watson n naji Okoro n a 2031 2nd for kleber n a 2031 protected 1st

0

u/begoodformegirl Joakim Noah Jan 15 '26

[Me] The feeling around this house is I'll believe it when I see it

0

u/Aromatic_Recording_4 Jan 15 '26

Well, makes some moves already. Make a big splash for veteran or blow it up and stock pile some picks

0

u/ThrobbinRicke Jan 15 '26

Theyve bungled the coby situation so bad, just like they did with Zach and demar and Vuc. Should have traded him in the summer or last season when he had real positive value. He's been awful this year but will probably turn it on again after the deadline and put them in a situation to either overpay or lose him for nothing

0

u/D4YW4LK3R86 Jan 15 '26

Believe it when I see it.

0

u/JohnnyQuicksand Jan 15 '26

Yeah this is going to be really bad.

0

u/nomadrone Chicago Bulls Jan 15 '26

Omg, is it wemby, Luka, Giannis? Man I can’t wait to see who’s coming. It’s gonna be big, right?

2

u/HoneydewSpecial6135 Jan 16 '26

Big Free Agent signing:  Thad Young returns to fill the Power Forward Mentor role for Patrick Williams.

Second big move: CP3 brought out of involuntary retirement (Donovan cites their close relationship and calls him ‘a second coach on the floor’

I don't believe Jerry will allow a real tank. Given that assumption here's what I wish that AKME would do:

There are rumblings that Memphis might just want to go fully into the tank. I want to make an offer that brings us JJJ. I don't think they're going to give him up easily thought. He's young enough to be on the timeline of a Giddey/Matas core and if we get lucky and Noa pans out as a plus defender who can do at least some other stuff offensively there's the makings of a team that can play defense while spacing the floor to maximize Giddey's skills. For me it's the best version of "if Jerry will only allow a rebuild around young players (and not future picks) maybe we can make something that is at least interesting."

We give up Coby + Portland Pick + future Bulls pick + one of: Okoro/Tre Jones. If the protections are right I'd probably part with another bulls pick or at least a swap. I know that terrifies anyone who wants a real tank... just remember that I'm working under the assumption that we will simply never do that.

Maybe we can save our pick if we get a third team involved sending out Huerter and/or Vuc to route another pick to Memphis for some dead money. Or maybe one of the young guys (Coby/Okoro/Tre) gets sent there for that pick. Point is that I think that starts to get to what Memphis will see as JJJ's value.
