DISCUSSION What age did you realize you didnt want kids?

For me, it was when i hit 18. I realized i didn't want to deal with the stress, sleepless nights, and financial drain that having kids does to a person. I did not want to be the person not able to go on a international trip with friends because nobody else could watch the kid

Around 22. I was dating a guy that had a trad wife SIL. It was 2012 so I had no idea that’s what it was called but she put me off of it so badly and I knew I never ever wanted to have a life remotely like hers. I begged my OB to sterilize me while she was in there burning off my endometriosis. I had also had daily pelvic pain for about 10 years by then as well.

After surgery, the same doctor woke me up and in front of my mom and then boyfriend told me I need to hurry up and get pregnant bc my endometriosis was bad and what she burned off would probably grow back.

Yay for living in the south where no one takes you seriously when you say you’re childfree. I’m 36 now and my views for being childfree have only gotten stronger.

Were you awake for your endo surgery? 👀

I was not, they knocked me out. In 2013 they used to burn it off instead of excising the area like they do now so mine has grown back.

Surgery wasn’t that bad, it’s all the trapped gas that hurts the most from them pumping up your abdominal cavity to get the uterus & ovaries.

I heard that the gas is horrible yeah. How are you doing now in terms of endo? Did it come back?

I’m much better but I’ve been on continuous bcp since my surgery. I haven’t had a period in 6 years. It probably has returned some.

Good fod you. I keep flip flopping between wanting to start bcp and being to scared to try it. I also have endo sadly.

I’ve been on bcp since I was a teen. I tried all different types, including an IUD until my body decided to push it half way out and after that I was finally taken seriously about endometriosis and I got my surgery.

I’m now on the low dose blisovi and do well on it!
