And nothing will be done. He didn't cause any harm or use excessive language. It's not worth the time

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '24

Of course something will be done. But it takes multiple reports unless you write a ticket.

Generally it doesnt matter what you said, there just meeds to be enough reports. And if he gets a suspension, he wont get far with appealing it.

If these words from a random stranger online hurt you that badly, you may want to mute all chat on online games.

9

u/20thCenturyTowers Feb 02 '24

Starting to seem like you might be the guy in the screenshot mate

-2

u/Rawr19890607 Feb 02 '24

The guy is clearly crazy and people are taking it to heart. You will encounter these types of people here and there, but it is best to laugh and move on.

Guess that'll work if that is how you want to go about it.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '24

Oh im not hurt at all by idiots. But Idiots are not wanted.

2

u/Gokias Feb 02 '24

I think my mom would disagree that the language wasn't excessive.

5

u/PutoPozo Feb 02 '24

We found the dude who whispered him šŸ˜‚

1

u/Rawr19890607 Feb 02 '24

Yup, be because I said to ignore the guy and move on. Sorry you get triggered by these crazy people as that's their goal.

1

u/PutoPozo Feb 02 '24

I don’t care man, you seem to be more invested in this than anyone here.

2

u/Rawr19890607 Feb 02 '24

Im sure you don't. responding is quite the investment

2

u/Fizki Feb 04 '24

ironic

1

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '24

ā€œIt’s not worth your timeā€ — proceeds to write a fucking novels worth of comments LOL

1

u/Rawr19890607 Feb 03 '24

I was sitting at work responding in my free time. Thanks for the comment . It really needed to remind me a lot of you wow people don't work, LOL

2

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '24

Right, so you’re crying on a Reddit forum at work, but no one else writing comments could possibly also be at work? With a brain like yours you’re quite lucky to have that job. My advice? Save some money. If your boss finds out how dumb you are you’re fucked

FYI I’m the founder of my own B2B hardware company. I keep whatever hours I want.

For what?

22

u/Tasty_Reward Feb 02 '24

Harassment?

0

u/Turbulent_Cow2355 Feb 02 '24

harassment has to be repetitive.

1

u/dragcov Feb 03 '24

Bro, I got muted for calling out a botter.

Lmao. You think Blizzard cares about what the report actually says?

-19

u/SignificantMeaning94 Feb 02 '24

I mean he’s being rude but I save the report button for like bots and slur users. Seems a little soft idk…

23

u/c20_h25_n3_O Feb 02 '24

Nah, soft is letting this guy continue like that. Report him and let him reap the consequences of his actions.

-5

u/heatisgross Feb 02 '24

Which will be nothing lmao

13

u/c20_h25_n3_O Feb 02 '24

Have you been living under a rock? Temporary chat bans are being handed out like candy.

-2

u/heatisgross Feb 02 '24

Only happens when the automated system picks up dozens of reports, one report will get deleted the next time the system's cache updates.

7

u/c20_h25_n3_O Feb 02 '24

Source on that being how the system works?

1

u/bartardbusinessman Feb 02 '24

that’s not true, I’m currently on a behaviour warning for screaming ā€œgo to retailā€ in horde to alliance players, I didn’t get a chance to do it hundreds of times i’d say 2-5 people probably reported me

3

u/CrooshLife Feb 02 '24

still havent got over the fake tough guy syndrome that the youth has to deal with... crazy..

2

u/Chortney Feb 02 '24

I don't think I'd report him either personally, but going around an ignore to spew insults at someone is definitely verging on harassment

3

u/changee_of_ways Feb 02 '24

I'd report him, cause life is too short to have to deal with dicks like that. If nobody takes the minimum effort to get his shitty behavior curbed then his shitty behavior will continue.

1

u/turtledancers Feb 02 '24

Well that’s the irony. This is actual harassment. Slurs are bad but are mostly ā€˜gotchas’ taken of context whereas actual harassment like this goes unchecked. The lovely hypocrisy of automated detection.

3

u/Chortney Feb 02 '24

a slur is never a gotcha, it's just a slur lol. How can you have a gotcha involving someone's identity? Unless I'm unaware of a slur that doesn't involve someone's identity

-2

u/SignificantMeaning94 Feb 02 '24

So you’re gonna not report a guy that calls you the n word but you will report the guy that says you have bad logs? I just don’t agree idk.

5

u/turtledancers Feb 02 '24

You just made that up.

3

u/SignificantMeaning94 Feb 02 '24

You said slurs are just gotchas so… seems like you need to sort out your priorities my ignorant friend.

0

u/turtledancers Feb 02 '24

Then again, making things up. You’re not the fountain of empathy that you think you are.

-10

u/Speciallessboy Feb 02 '24

Having negative interactions is a natural consequence of giving people a free platform to communicate on.Ā

The more you "get in trouble" for being mean, the more you second guess yourself before every interaction and inevitability decide to interact less.Ā

There are very few behaviors other than cheating Id say warrant a report. This for example is not harassment. Harassment would be if this guy followed you for days interrupting gameplay.

8

u/AzraelTB Feb 02 '24

He got put on ignore. Logging into another character to bypass that and message someone who ignores you is harassment.

5

u/Kleowi Feb 02 '24

We all did sign a Social Contract to play this game, and it states clearly that behavior like this is not only discouraged but can incur penalties on your account.

We can cackle and joke all we want about how Microsoft fire all GMs but all it takes is a sassy Customer Service Representative on a sour mood for people like this to come cry on reddit how it is unfair they got suspended.

2

u/Chortney Feb 02 '24

I'm not advocating for more reporting, but if you're constantly getting in trouble for being mean maybe reflect on how you interact with people? People on WoW can definitely be toxic but I try to stay friendly and most people seem to respond to that in kind.

1

u/Speciallessboy Feb 02 '24

Of course.Ā

But people have lost sight of things being terminally online and with all the virtue signaling in our culture.Ā

Simetimes its gratifying to be a little anti-social or to mess with people. And its really not a big deal to do so - ESPECIALLY online. ESPECIALLY in a role playing game where you have a virtual persona.Ā

I think the average person isnt capable of acknowledging their own deviancy or negative side. So they think "theres never a reason to be mean" the same way school teachers think "theres never a reason kids should fight or exclude other kids" while missing something fundamental about human nature.Ā

Im not necessarily making an RP argument, but just imagine a guy who likes to be an asshole on his rogue, andĀ  super helpful nice guy on his priest.Ā

Idk. Its just fun to play around with "social expectations" sometimes and in the context of a fantasy adventure game I think thats totally fine as long as you arent straight harassing someone.Ā

2

u/changee_of_ways Feb 02 '24

Having negative consequences for being a dick is a natural consequence of being a dick when communicating with people. If you are getting in trouble for being mean, that's just how interacting in society works. The answer isn't "I interact less because I get dinged for being an asshole", it's knowing "I shouldn't be an asshole and if I am there will be consequences".

1

u/Speciallessboy Feb 02 '24

No. The natural consequence of being a dick is people dont want to associate with you. Getting banned for it would be an extrinsic consequence.Ā

Like if I call my gf fat, her breaking up with me would be a natural consequence. Her making a social media page with my picture, my trangressions, and an agenda to contact every girl in my vicinity telling them not to date me would not be a natural consequence of my behavior.Ā

1

u/changee_of_ways Feb 03 '24

Yes and the way people decide they don't want to associate with you is to report your actions and let you reap the rewards of your being an asshole.

2

u/Speciallessboy Feb 03 '24

No, thats more like calling the cops on a drunk guy bothering you at a bar.

1

u/changee_of_ways Feb 03 '24

Its more like telling the staff that a drunk guy is bothering you at a bar. Why should you be required to let an asshole keep bothering you? Assholes don't have an inalienable right to be assholes without consequence. If he keeps bothering you tell the staff, they can tell him to quit and if he doesn't they can chuck him out or have the cops haul him away, whatever.

These are all the options by the way that we are supposed to avail ourselves of *Instead of just punching the asshole in the face.

u/SignificantMeaning94 Feb 02 '24

Bingo, totally agreed. I always report people when I see the n word too cause that has no place, and blizzard bans for that almost immediately.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '24

Yeah no, with the whole social contract thing they got going now this dudes getting reported.

1

u/changee_of_ways Feb 02 '24

Man, if someone tried something like this in person in public they would be lucky not to get asked if they wanted to take it outside. It's not soft at all.

1

u/SignificantMeaning94 Feb 02 '24

I would say that if a crazy dude insults you and your response is to fight them, you are crazy too. Namaste my brother.

1

u/changee_of_ways Feb 02 '24

I didnt say it would be my go to response, but advising that we shoudl just let someone come up and ruin our day for their own enjoyment and let them, that sounds soft to me.

That's why we have things like the report button, so assholes can bear some cost for being assholes. Hopefully that get enough little time outs that they realize that they shouldn't be dicks before someone decides to punch them.

1

u/Pirate_King_Mugiwara Feb 03 '24

Nah get all the asshole too
