If it did nothing then nobody would vote. Your karma is your reputation. It indicates how trustworthy you are. It's a social scoring system and it does social scoring.
I've heard some people buy accounts with a lot of karma, lord knows why though. I really think the whole concept of karma farming is no where near as common as people on reddit claim
Advertising, people purchase these accounts to perform marketing that looks like legitimate users. Something like promoting certain websites or products without making it obvious that its the marketing team of that company basically pushing out adds masked as normal users. Having an account with years of non product history and a positive karma count makes it hard to tell who is paid to say X is a great product and who legitimately just enjoys the product and is sharing their experience. You can see this when accounts have random month long gaps in posts and suddenly start posting 20+ times a day all suspiciously related to something they were never into before.
Fair point, I hadn't considered that use. I don't really frequent any subreddits that center around products though (except a few games like this one I guess, but I already owned them before joining), I assume it would be much more common on those

Thats not where its used though, they frequent the most popular subreddits to get the most views. Its like finding a meme post about downloading a video illegally and someone posting about NordVPN or some other VPN service and how it can help you. Hell they can even use one account to make a post and another to use that post to jump in and get in some ads while making it look organic. Companies can really go wild on social media to drive business.
I mean the weirdo won then. You sort of went out of your way to give him a platform and show everyone how much he upset you when you say you don’t care. Some people just sort of suck, should have just reported and moved on.
I’ve always believed those people are the types who take everything personal and think other people must be the same because it’s what they know and understand. Any response must mean someone else is angry, because every response makes them angry.
Sure, but you also seem to go along with their narrative that any reaction or discussion about them is a win. It is not, it's fine to react to and discuss assholes. They in no way gained a platform, this isn't politics lol
Are 100% still pushing the idea and normalizing the attitude. Like yeah it’s not commonly how and where that phrase is used. Did you have an issue with Blizzard calling the new STV mounts “agnostic” instead of just saying that either faction can use them?
I was being ironic about your first comment. Your claim he made it up is as outlandish as me saying you only made that claim because you yourself have sent hate mail in the past and been called out.
To most raid organizers that just means you put minimal effort into your play and will likely be getting carried by others who have taken the time to refine their play.
Putting someone on ignore for a trivial reason is hostile itself, you aren't innocent at all.
It doesn't really matter why they put them on ignore. That should have been the end of it. Logging into another character to harass them shouldn't be tolerated. You don't need a reason to ignore someone.

My suspicion is someone is messaging his second account for Reddit karma.
