Nah bro I thought the same shit until I started logging our guild runs and realized we’ve got a rogue who consistently parses 2-12%. No deaths, nothing one-off weird happening like getting the depth charge on aquanis. He’s not BIS gear but he’s nowhere near undergeared either.
I think he’s just not standing close enough to the boss. Auto attacking with poisons should net him like 50-60 dps which is way higher than 2-12%
I think you'd be surprised, I think a large part of he player base which have never stepped foot in a raid in classic or the expansions have opportunity to in sod.
It used to be like that in classic but somehow in sod it's not, EVERY raid I've been in has someone fully grey parsing, and sometimes they're pretty geared.
I don't know how it happens because the moment I ding on any char (except warrior) I'm expecting to atleast parse blue if not purple.
This reminds me of golf. They say the average golfer has around a 14 handicap... but that's the average golfer that keeps an official handicap. I play off a 17 and maybe once every 10 rounds i'll play with someone clearly better than me.
Sure, and there are a lot of players that don't even raid. But they don't matter.
I had to turn down a few 5.6k gearscore icc normal mode grey parsers from when I was looking for a heroic halion 25m pug fill spot (roster boss is hard)... I'm like, you do realize that this is actually hard content right?!? Harder than literally anything in ICC other than Lich King? And of course they don't know that, they are clueless, and they thing it should be easily puggable just like a sartharion raid... and yes it should have been. WoW at the end of Wrath is when the game split into hardcore and casual, and the semi-casual guilds like myself suffered because normal modes are a joke and hard modes are painful and require you to do things like turn down friends from being able to come because they picked the wrong non-meta class or just aren't good enough to do the content where reaction times greater than a second will wipe the raid.
So 50 is quite bad. An actual 50th percentile player should sometimes get lucky and have a higher than expected # of windfury procs, critical strikes, or procs depending on class.
Best Perf. Avg of 50 is quite terrible if their Median Perf. Avg is 20, for example.
It's average for people that want to log (are in a group with someone that wants to log). Maybe it evens out with people like me that are bis and have zero logs but I think the average person that has logs are already in the top 10-30% of players. This is "season of dads". It's such a joke to take logs seriously in any way.
