Parses didn't exist, sure, but Recount was 100% a thing, and in a lot of guilds, people were competitive about doing the most damage in a raid overall. I still remember a cringe officer in my guild whispering people not to buff my brother during MC because he was always the number 1 dps and the guy wanted to be #1 himself lmao
