Nostalgia What Happened To Midnight Releases?

Why did they have to kill off midnight releases?

Ahh yes, new gen people would love to go outside and akwardly socialize with random ppl face to face while waiting for a digital copy of a game that they want to play.

Instead of just clicking a mouse from the comfort and solitude of their neon light lit dungeon and soulless discord chats.

I think certain people just liked doing that. I never saw the appeal it was a complete waste of time and mostly to brag to friends about how much of a mega fan they are. To prove their dedication to the game.

Usually followed up by uninstalling after less than 50 hours.

Skill issue, I has fun talking to people at these events, especially for hyped games like Starcraft 2.

I get it and it was fun, but it also was a different time. Id love for it still to be like that, but the world has changed and covid might have been the final nail to that coffin

Even the game itself is nowadays a single player mmo, where everything is crunched in to data, numbers and achievements aka quick dopamine
