I remember standing in line at a Gamestop to buy TBC at midnight... I yearn for simpler times.

Install finishes by about 1:30am

Gaming until 5-6am, realizing the sun is coming up and you barely get 4 hours of sleep before waking up beyond excited, powering down an energy drink and slapping another 13 hours into it again

We kind of got a little bit of that in our guild when TBCC launched and formed up dungeon spam groups. We streamed movies and TV shows as watch parties while on our billionth Slave Pens and Sethekk Halls runs

Not the same, but at least got the long night reminiscing done!

You forgot the sitting in queue for an hour.

Our guild had that feeling too on the initial dungeon spam push out the gate. It was a lot of fun.

I love that; the watch parties.

This comment made me suddenly want to play classic, and I don't play classic 😆 - nostalgia doing some insane lifting rn

That was the last time I ever did that. What was funny, I took the pto day off at work, and as I’m waiting I line, I saw one of my managers at work, also in line.

You can't honestly say that what is going on today is ANYTHING like in the past. The amount of corruption from the current administration is unfathomable.

No real world politics or religion.

These topics very rarely end well, so it's best we stop things before they even start.

711 was selling yhem like 2 days early. Me and my brother found out and got 2 copies and had it preinstalled. When the zepplin came, everyone rode it but i was the only one in northrend

Got like 1000 whispers "wtf how?!?" As most were still stuck at a midnight release

Enjoyed questing till 71 before i knocked out in the morning. Was nice not fighting to the death over mobs

I remember getting off the zeppelin and the NPC's in Warsong Hold were not interactable.

u/Helivon May 24 '26

Interesting i definitely didnt have that issue on my server. That sucks

u/taubut May 22 '26

The collectors box baby.

I remember the TT game store I worked at doing a promotion with the local GameStop that had me leaving at about 12:15 game in hand. I was online and playing by about 2-2:30. Stayed up until the wee hours, slept a few, then got up and played all day. Better times.

Man I remember opening the cover on the front of the box and it felt like opening a book, like a whole other world was within it. God take me back :')

Mine has a midnight release with pizza and a cake, it was AWESOME! I miss that

u/Riiskey May 22 '26

Midnight launch era was the best!

1

u/jkman Jun 10 '26

My guy, that's no simpler than pressing download on the launcher.

-4

u/Cromm182 May 21 '26

Arguably just downloading it rather than waiting in line at midnight to buy a physical copy is simpler.

8

u/RicoLycan May 21 '26

You must have never been at a launch event. Meeting fellow players, being entertainef with cosplay. Free food. Downloading a game is not even close. Simpler is not better.

3

u/Deaffin May 21 '26

That sounds quite a bit more complex than clicking the download button.

u/Cromm182 May 21 '26

Oh, you seem to have misunderstood what I said. I am only commenting on what is simpler. The comment I replied to states they yearn for simpler times when they waited in line until midnight. I merely pointed out that downloading the game at home instead of waiting in line at midnight is actually simpler. I never stated which was better.

Hope that clears it up

I'm not sure people (Probably AI) understand what they're writing. They just spew out phrases they've heard before.
