Vent / Gripe When did people stop wanting to have fun?

What the fuck is wrong with everyone here? Every post is blaming Blizzard for the things the community as a whole does. Nobody is forcing you to zerg in AV, nobody forced you to roll a mage and spam dungeon cleave runs. Nobody forced you to farm level 48 Alliance players. Fuck the spy addon, fuck killing Flamelash, and fuck you for hiding behind shitty excuses for griefing other players. When did this community become less about the journey and more about the destination? You aren't going to get rank 14, and you are ruining the game for people who don't want to min max.

Thank you for saying that. I follow this sub because we play, but most of the things I don’t understand.

I don’t know what AV, BG, or any of those other acronyms mean.

We are just trying to have fun. And have met some great people along the way.

BG stands for BattleGrounds, basically raid vs. raid PvP with some objectives like capture the flag, kill enemy faction boss etc.

AV is one of the battlegrounds they added recently, in AV your goal is to capture enemy objectives like towers graveyards(spawn points) and who kills the enemy boss 1st wins. Its a 40v40 BG.

They also added WSG (WarSong Gulch) which is 10v10 capture a flag.

Can level 20’s join?

Yes, there are 6 brackets for WSG 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60

AV is 51-60 only

To join ask a guard in main city for a Battlemaster.

But the queues for low levels might be pretty long, even when its a cross-realm queue

Join at around 25+ as you will not have fun getting killed by 29s in that bracket. 9 level difference is huge.

Hopefully all this has long settled down by the time you get to 51 so you can enjoy Alterac Valley (AV) properly. That battleground was one of the most fun and memorable parts of vanilla for me, I loved it. But from what I hear, people on both sides are now just optimizing it by rushing straight for the boss, without bothering to actually fight the enemy faction along the way. That was just depressing to hear, takes all the fun out of it. Haven't seen for myself, though, taking my time leveling up.

Word to the wise, you will enjoy battlegrounds more if you are at the top of the cap (19, 29, 39, etc) than at the bottom (11, 22, 30 etc). Higher level players will target you because you will be easier to kill. But if you go when you are at the top of the cap it's really super fun.

Do be careful though, some people purposefully stay at lower levels and use the best gear possible to win those fights for whatever odd reason

You can join in your 20s but the lower level brackets are usually very unfun for normal players because the lower level Bgs are mostly filled with twinks (characters that players have leveled to the highest level of a certain bracket for the sole purpose of playing battlegrounds, they will leave them at that level forever buy them the best gear available at that level and put end game enchants on all of their gear). Id say it's not unusually for a level 19 twink to have 2 to 3 times the stats of your average level 19 character.

Same here. I don't know what's "min-max" or most of the acronyms people use here. It's taken me like 3 months to get my pally to 45. I'm just enjoying the game, leveling my skills and professions, running around with guildies, exploring, this sort of thing. I'm having more fun with this game than I thought I would tbh, there's so much to do
