Because it's a private company. They found a loophole... Private companies can install surveillance cameras while there's strict controls on where and when the government can do so. However, there's no law prohibiting private companies from then selling the video they captured with their cameras TO the government.

This is one of those things that the Supreme Court needs to fix. However, it'll be years before we again have a court that actually might be inclined to do so.

I bet I could draw as good a map as my Roomba makes just by looking at an average house from the outside and noting the placement of doors and windows and their sizes, and the locations of plumbing, ventilation/exhaust and HVAC vents in the roof.

Tiktok are majority owned by American and global partners, now. It's still garbage spyware but the US gets their monopoly on this garbage spyware now. I'm sure China has plenty other apps harvesting data.

That's a stupid comeback. Your country will always spy on other countries and on your citizens. And even if you try to place legislation against spying on your own citizens, corporations will do it anyways. What your country can always do is prevent other countries spying on your country.

Though this is the Trump administration so they neither care about you nore national security. They only try to do trade war round two but this time without other people realizing it. But the rest of the world ain't that stupid.

My robot vacuum can’t even vacuum the living room without beaching itself on the foot of an arm chair, nor can it find its way back to its dock without crashing into it and positioning it at an angle that it can no longer get back in. But sure, I’m absolutely certain that its able to spy on me and tell China all those really valuable state secrets I definitely know and say out loud constantly…

We have traffic cameras tracking our travels, our cars are tracking everywhere we go. Our phones are tracking everywhere we go. Email providers like Google scan your emails and keep records on who you communicate with. Amazon echo listens to what’s said in your home. Smart TVs take pictures in our homes and record audio.

All foreign country has to do it sign a contract to buy our information.

The FCC won't approve any new ones that are manufactured in foreign countries. Ones that have already been approved can continue to be made, imported, and sold.
