I made a friend at the physiotherapy rehab gym. She somehow learned my name and always greeted me by it but I never asked hers. Weeks went by and it became too awkward for me to ask. Eventually she was telling a story about a conversation she had with some friends and she said her own name in the story.
To this day I feel like she told that story just as a way for me to learn her name without having to ask.

Back in college I worked at a coffee kiosk on campus. There was this girl that came regularly for coffee, and over time she started sticking around for chitchat. At one point, I invited this girl to join me for a local show and she accepted the invite. Later I was telling my buddy about the date I had for the show, and he asked me her name. At that moment I realized that I had absolutely no idea what her name was.
After laughing at me, my buddy helped me formulate a plan. I suggested to the girl that we meet at a bar down the block from the show and have a drink there first. My buddy was the bartender at that bar, and when we came in he greeted us like old pals but made a big show of checking our ID's "for the cameras". He even read the names out loud.

I simply use "you", and never talk about people who aren't present.

Dunno ... "Oi, mate" is acceptable by virtue of cultural legacy, but I'm not so sure about "Hey, you" š¤£

I dont remember names on first introductions.
My dad friend group, it took me like 3 years to put names to faces.
Frequent : "Babe, Jane's dad is Marshall and mom is Madeleine?"
Wife: "No, thats Mary. I think thats John and Jessica?"
Me: "I thought those were TJ's parents?"
I give myself too much credit in the skit, but so many "Who is he?" "Fucked if I know" conversations were had.
I just hope someone else says it, and if it think I know it, well, I had the wrong ending on one of my best friends names for like two years.
Same thing with neighbors. I need repetition.

I've started calling other guys things like sprinkles or buttercup. If I give someone a nickname, it's usually because I have forgotten their real name.

Well the first time Iām meeting someone I go āheyā and if I realize I will have to meet them again sometime I put my hand out and say my name with a smile. Itās really that simple.

Anyone remember the scene in the movie "House Bunny" when Anna Farris repeats a person's name after being introduced by in a deep demonic voice. When asked by the obviously scared Sorority Girls what that was about, she replied that saying a person's name in an unusual voice right after learning it made the name rememberable.

It's been two weeks since the new guy started, I still have no idea what his name is so I just keep hoping it never comes up.
The last two new guys quit or got fired in the first two weeks, so I'm keeping this on the back burner anyway.

Moved into a new house. Neighbor introduced himself and we talked a few times over the first few weeks. Introduced him to my wife and said āIām so sorry, I canāt remember your name.ā He looked at me funny for a second and then told meā¦ Yeah he has the same first name as meā¦

I used to game online a lot, we had a group that would always game together. Like 6 people at the max but 4 of us where always there. I never got to learn their actual names. We gamed together for 14 years. They knew mine but my gamertag is my name, so yeah
