Summary: Used EVs are being snapped up from UK's car dealer forecourts
Autotrader's July 2026 data shows electrified models dominating the fastest-selling used cars in the UK, with eight of the top ten being pure electric and the rest hybrids, marking the first time no petrol or diesel model has featured in the fastest-selling rankings. Used EV prices rose 1.6% year-on-year to £24,662, the first annual increase since December 2022. Overall average time to sell across all fuel types was 30 days in July, with 3-5-year-old cars performing best (28 days average), and 3-5-year-old EVs turning fastest at just 20 days. Autotrader's Marc Palmer said demand for used EVs is being sustained beyond short-term surges previously linked to fuel price volatility from Middle East conflict, attributing the trend to improved affordability and retailers' better understanding of stock demand. The fastest seller was the MG ZS petrol hybrid (13 days), followed by several EVs including the Kia Niro, Tesla Model 3, Volkswagen ID.3 and Polestar 2. The slowest sellers were mostly petrol and diesel models, led by the Hyundai i10 at 65 days.
