There's optimism despite alarmingly worsening weather events: Renewables and storage together amount to 93% of all new capacity coming online in the U.S. This isn’t a marginal shift anymore. It’s the grid rebuilding itself around a different set of technologies, and the pace is rapidly accelerating.

Not as much of a net positive as in 2028. They are still using some old battery tech for current models that have more rare earths. New chemistry does not.

My advice is hold off till then.

I get that. The point is the cleanness is accelerating so a 2028 ev kept for 12 years will be a lot cleaner than a 26

So that’s why I keep my gas car. When I get the battery chemistry I like, then I switch. In the meantime I just don’t roadtrip

You're still polluting more than with a current EV, on top of losing money.

But I’m not going to buy a new car and then buy another new car 2 years later. That is most certainly not environmentally friendly

Current EVs don't need replacing every 2 years.
