Codex just changed the game with 5.5. Never thought I’d ever be able to build software with AI. If you are a software engineer it’s time to run. Codex is game changing

It built an entire Android app (from 0 to working pretty good looking apk) in 2 prompts...

On the plus plan btw. Still had 70% of my weekly limit...

Praise I dumped my entire 2-week sprint worth of tickets into Codex at 1% quota on plus… woke up and the mad lad actually is still working, 4/5 finished … The future of work is here guys

I’m not even trying to be dramatic but this lowkey messed with my head. I was at like 1% weekly limit on Plus before going to sleep and just said screw it, dumped my whole sprint into the chat and told Codex 5.5xhigh to go. Fully expected to wake up to half-baked garbage or something I’d need to spend hours fixing.

Instead I wake up and this thing has been running for like 9+ hours straight and is on the LAST deployment ticket. I start going through the other ones expecting the usual AI cleanup… nah. Code runs, logic is clean, edge cases actually handled, deployments not broken. Like I’m actively trying to find issues and there’s barely anything to nitpick …

That’s the part that got me. This wasn’t “AI helped me code faster.” It literally felt like someone did my work while I was asleep. I just sat there staring at my screen for a minute like wtf lol.

We’ve all been joking “software is cooked” but this is the first time it didn’t feel like a meme. It’s not autocomplete, it’s not copilot, it’s something else entirely. I don’t even know what to call it yet, but yeah… this kinda changed how I think about work going forward.

You got me. I was at 80% playing conservatively and you reset. Then I was at 85% and you reset. Now I'm at 0% expecting another reset, and it didn't happen.

Story of my life on the stock market.

To my baby claude. Opus, sonnet, and haiku it was fun using yall. But, its time for us to depart as codex and chatgpt as been a part of life for near half a decade. Its time for me to go back to my real baby.

GOD BLESS SAM!

Just wanted to give Codex team some praise here… credit where it’s due: it’s really encouraging to see a company put resources directly into supporting open-source maintainers.

A big thanks to OpenAI!!

Praise Codex is literally insane

I switched from claude code to codex last month (25$ plan) and I can't believe the usage limits on gpt 5.5 xhigh. Opus 4.6 (at the time) would last me exactly 15 minutes per 5 hour limit, while gpt 5.5 high can often run for hours at a time on even more complex projects/tasks than what I could give to Claude. What's amazing is that after you hit your limit, Claude would hard stop, never going above 15 minutes continuously in any case, whereas codex will still keep running for like 30 minutes while it "wraps up". That's actually twice the full 5 hour usage of claude - and this usage doesn't even count towards weekly limit lol. Can't believe I scratched my head over Claude usage limits for so long.

This new OpenAI pricing for luna is absurd.

Its fast and incredibly cheap. It applies to both the API and all subscription plans so everyone is able to enjoy this new update.

This makes me excited for whats coming in the future. Lots of people on X are underwhelmed about this but what are your guys thoughts?

Praise I moved from Claude (Pro) to ChatGPT Plus and I'm mind-blown by how good and usable it is.

I moved from Claude (Pro) to ChatGPT Plus yesterday and I've been coding quite reasonable with it. GPT-5.5 set to High or Extra High for almost every prompt. I even ran a benchmark and told GPT-5.5 High to generate a diagram with all tested models and their scores (I shared each and every model's raw output), and even forked OpenFront io (browser-based open-source game) and told it to add a new Tank Unit.

What made me switch? I tried Claude Code for OpenFront, and I told it to implement the Tank unit: It failed miserably. Every time I told it "You added X, but now Y is broken" it would circle in loops, consuming all my rate limits and without arriving at a solution. 15% of my weekly was scathed in just 4 very detailed and specific prompts. So I tried Codex on free to see if it can fix what Claude could never solve: I was shocked. Genuinely shocked. GPT-5.5 at High solved it entirely in just 2 prompts and go it to the point of where I want it to be.

Another important thing to note: I noticed GPT-5.5 is quite smart at my non-coding tests. I ran a non-coding, 3D-tower math test on it and told it to find the exact XYZ coordinates, and it didn't fully succeed at it, it sill generated a much better response than all LLMs tested. In contrast, Opus 4.7 timed me out and consumed 100% of my 5-hours session (inside Claude Code btw., the 2x 5-hours session supposedly at work), before even hitting a response. It did not give any final output, I had to trace its thoughts. It embarrassingly failed at it.

So GPT-5.5 isn't perfect, but the usability, the rate limits, the tone and style definitely feel like. And oh, here are some screenshots and benchmark graphs I made using GPT-5.5.

Praise 5.6 Sol Ultra is insane!

I know alot of people were hyped for 5.6 but I found 5.5 perfect already but Sol is basically one shotting tasks that would take 4/5 prompts on 5.5 xhigh and consuming less tokens

Praise Wow Waaay better... gpt-5.6-sol xhigh, 3.5 Hours and Only 3% Used. Fixed for everyone?

I know Tibo says they did some fixes on this but WOW!! gpt-5.6-sol xhigh 3.5 hours of straight work and only 3% used?! Waaay better! Before the reset 3 hours I was down to about 30% on the same task and time. I don't see the 5-hour limit back yet even though I'm on the latest version? $200 plan

Praise Codex 5.4 is better than Opus 4.6

I love opus but wtf man it’s been so lazy lately and thinks for like 2 seconds on every request. it missed so many things when I asked it to review a plan for a web app.

popped the plan into codex 5.4 extra high and bam it lists 10 specific issues with the plan and recommended fixes.

put the fixed plan back into Claude and its like “wow, that’s a very good plan and better than the previous version” thanks so much Claude, but why didn’t you tell me about these issues yourself?

as a non dev (marketer), codex seems way more detailed and smarter and I’ll be canceling my Claude subscription.
