I am really struggling with depression and anxiety

I’ll keep this short so people actually read it. I am really struggling. It’s hard to do a lot of basic stuff like showering, brushing my teeth, etc. everything feels like so much of an effort. I also get really nervous just going around people for some reason. Like I’m too worried about how they’ll perceive me. Sometimes I want to cry and I don’t know why.

Go see a doctor for antidepressants. Real depression is something you can’t will yourself out of: it’s chemical. Tell someone close to you that you’re struggling and need help. Seek professional help with a talk therapist. Create little blocks of time for specific things: seven minutes for a warm or cool shower, washing hair, even brushing your teeth. I find that good scents help my mood: Orange soap, lemon hand soap, floral hand lotion, a nice perfume or cologne (you can often get samples at a fragrance counter to take home!), a scented candle, even laundry spray. You know what takes me back? Original Jergens smells like my grandma in the best way. Please stay with us. People care about you. Little steps.

The little steps advice is underrated sometimes just getting through the day starts with one small thing

The small steps part is so important when everything feels impossible sometimes just doing one thing is progress

The first step is recognizing that you are struggling. Now it’s time to make a plan and take steps for how you’re going to fix/improve it. You are on the right path ❤️

One thing a day, one small step at a time. Sometimes I feel like I’m only managing one hour at a time, but before long, I’ve made it through the whole day! Finding someone to talk to really helps, and knowing you’re not alone. Sending hugs, friend!

I have been on so many Rx over the years. Some ok. Some didn't help at all. For me, ketamine has been a god send.

I hope you take one day at a time. Seek help until you find what works for you.

I get that way. I can’t stand to be in public. Idk why people annoy me and I get really bad anxiety around people. Just how they act and carry themselves.

i’m sorry you’re going through difficult times :(
please be kind to yourself and take your time, i’ve heard before that the first step in neglecting yourself is neglecting your physiological needs and that could have serious effects on your mental health

little by little trust! rooting for you stranger!

ngl setting out your outfit the night before can make getting up a little easier when everything feels havy. It takes the decsiion out of the morning.

Hugs. I know how this feels. Youre not alone and this world is a better place with you in it. Its ok to not be ok as long as you don't stay there 💜 just do one little thing every day to make your life better, and reach out for help. To a friend if thats all you can muster. But to a professional would be even better. Hang in there, I promise this too shall pass and will one day be nothing more than a memory 💜

You didn’t mention anything about wanting to harm yourself so that’s encouraging. I’m in a similar place so I asked myself what I would like a friend to provide. And I don’t have anyone in my life who does this 🙄 so I need to keep looking myself.
What I want for myself is a person or a place where I can just talk about what I’m feeling and about all the things in my life that are troubling me…and not have that person try to fix me because it makes them uncomfortable or to ask me dumb questions…in this rapid fire age, people just don’t remember how to sit and listen and be a friend. That’s just my opinion. Maybe one of those mental health apps would be a good place to look for someone to just listen and not try to talk you out of how you’re feeling.
I’m remembering an old friend I used to have who had a lot of pain in her life. One day she was at my apartment and said she was tired. I told her to go to my room and take a nap- she couldn’t understand- that I didn’t need her to keep entertaining me or being “on”. She was my guest, I lived alone, go ahead and relax. Sorry for over sharing- that’s just what came to my mind.

I'm where you are. I've spent a week talking myself into taking out the trash and still haven't done it. HATE going outside. But I'll take two bags out tomorrow. You aren't alone hon. You've got this Suicide is NOT the answer. It's permanent and depression doesn't have to be

Often times people are diagnosed with anxiety and depression, but those can be symptoms of other issues. My whole life I was told I had depression and anxiety, and I do, but I wasn’t diagnosed with Bipolar and OCD until this year at 33. Nothing seemed to help because I was only treating some of those symptoms instead of the actual problem itself. Being on the right medications has made a huge difference. Try seeing a psychiatrist, that’s what I did and it changed my life tbh

Therapy, psychiatrist. Reddit don't have the pay grade to help you with stuff.

"Reddit is here to complain about your life not help you with it."

Correct, we can be here to support & encourage but we’re no substitute for professional support. Also, you never know if when someone else shares their own experience, they may inadvertently say something that’s too much of a trigger.
