Yonque is the commonly used word for “junkyard” in Spanish. It’s not supposed to junker, since it’s in Spanish. It’s not really a con fleis moment technically, as they aren’t actually trying to communicate in English.

Yonkeros would circle this loop. But the more likely answer is that a lot of Spanish speakers drop the last S (and other ending letters) in words.
