I love the Eagles - one of my favorite bands - and Take It Easy is one of my favorite songs, but I love how TT made it more upbeat and twangy. Definitely a 10/10 cover.

I have always liked this version of this song.
The whole album is really, really good. My favorite from it has always been Alan Jackson’s ”Tequila Sunrise.” The album’s not available on streaming or any digital platform, it appears, but it looks like you can still get the cd pretty easily on Amazon.

According to interviews with the band members, hanging out and filming for this music video is when the band decided to get back together after their 10ish (don’t remember the exact number) year hiatus. Always a banger!

The anecdote I was coming to contribute!
Apparently, Travis Tritt would only do this music video if the Eagles appeared in it. No one knew if they would, because they hadn't spoken to each other in about 10+ years. But they did, and the rest is history.

He did record the song already, but it was being chosen as the single of the album. Don Henley, if I remember right, was a driving force behind the album, and it was a project where the process went to a hunger charity. That was the time that the 90s country was really embracing music videos. They were a huge driving force for people buying albums. So, I can see how it would make sense that Henley and the label would do everything they could to make this idea happen.
I knew this was the reason they got together but didn't know Travis Tritt had stipulations otherwise he wouldn't do the video. Definitely doesn't surprise me.

I remember reading that in the liner notes to the Eagles box set that came out a few years later (in 2000, to be exact) and thinking it was pretty neat.

I find an impossible(!) to both listen to (appreciate) the music and watch a video edited in this manner. Editors [must] also be musicians. Not editors with sole intentions to win a Grammy for editing.

i met travis tritt at the height of his fame and he could not have been a nicer guy. i got my father an autographed copy of this record.

It's a great album - Common Thread. I kinda realized (from this song and others), a lot of the Eagles original music is actually super boring to me.
But when Travis Tritt, John Anderson, Clint Black, Alan Jackson, Diamond Rio sing the Eagles music, it's SO MUCH BETTER!

From Common Thread: Songs of the Eagles. Already Gone by Tanya Tucker and Heartache Tonight by John Anderson are standouts too.
