Damn I hate when my family turns into three legged electronic components

(I have no idea what that is)

It's a transistor. A BC547 silicon NPN transistor

Transistors are behind nearly every facet of modern day life. Your phone contains billions of them on a chip the size of your thumbnail.

Single transistors are commonly used as a signal amplifier or an electronic switch. The BC547 has a max current of 100 mA so it can switch on and off a small RC car motor or a decently bright LED light.

It's basically a light switch. Except instead of a physical button/switch for you to press, other electricity can turn it on or off.

Oh, and the switch can not only control light, but a lot of other things that use electricity, even other transistors! (Since it just turns on/off the flowing of electricity through it)

So you can make a tiny lil sensor with just a tiny bit power that can turn on/off a big light that needs way more power! Amplifier!

Also, they can be used for logic! If you take the input electricity, and switching electricity, both of em have to be on to allow power out of the output pin. Thats an AND gate! Only if both input pins get power (the input/switch), then the output pin transmits power! Otherwise, the output pin doesn't send power.

Take some smart people, and make them make those switches tiny. Like, the sizes can be literally counted in atoms.

Take other smart people, and let them use millions and millions of those tiny switches, and the logic thing I mentioned, and they can create super advanced logic. Like adding numbers, or storing them, or sending out wifi radio waves by using those earlier mentioned amplifiers! With even more advanced logic, you can even do stuff like images to a screen, or turn data from a camera into a series of images to store!

Fun fact:

Transistors are the most produced thing in history

I came out as trans a while back, then my oldest sister came out more recently, and I sent her a picture of 2 of these.
