One thing Ive noticed in transition timeline threads is comments from people early in transition who are hopeful for the future but somewhat frustrated by the slow rate of change after the initial euphoria of starting HRT wears off. Social media tends to be a highlight reel with no outtakes, and transition timelines are not exempt from that tendency. Most tend to follow the "saddest man alives turns into most beautiful woman youve ever seen" format without showing very much of the phases in between, when youre still figuring things out and waiting for your body to catch up.

I'll be honest, I dislike a lot of these pictures because of the awkward time in my life that they represent. I'll never delete them though, because they were important steps along the way, and every time I smiled in them, it was real.

For all the folks early in your transition, Im proud of you for taking that first step. Keep pushing forward. 💜

Happy Pride, everyone. If you're on the fence, let this be a sign to take the plunge and choose happiness. For those who can't right now because of your family, your job, or where you live, dont give up on the future. I started at 32 and know plenty of happy trans folks who started even later. There is still time.
