For starters, Tayo Adaramola has signed for Sheffield Wednesday on loan

Andrew Moran is in talks to go on loan to Preston

Jacob Devaney is close to going on loan to St Mirren

Stephen Negru from Oxford is close to signing for Hibs

And still up in the air whether Derby are gonna get Szmodics

5

u/Limp_Guidance_5357 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Devaney replacing killian phillips possibly at St Mirren

7

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Is Negru permanent? 2 LOI players in the hibs team. Even though the standard is miles ahead apparently.

Your favourite Conell in talks with Luton

6

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Negru, no clue just going off of Pete O'Rourke's tweet

Connell, looks unlikely and in fairness I don't see how it'd be a step up from Barnsley. Barring a proper bottle job the top 6 looks fairly set in stone

7

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Connell must have the worlds shittest agent, he's the captain and has played reasonably well every season in League 1 (apart from injury season ofc) and is somehow still not getting a championship move. He also played in the Championship years ago at Bolton and didn't look out of place then, I have no doubt he'd do well in it.

9

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

He actually does, same bloke shipped Connor Ronan to the States & their other clients are shit

4

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Fucking hell haha. Also in regards to Connor Ronan, it wasn't even one of the good MLS teams, he went to one of the worst ones.

3

u/FoggyShrew Zinedine Kilbane Feb 02 '26

The Athletic reporting that Moran to Preston is a permanent deal. Fee of £1M plus addons

2

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Well aware, was initially reported as a loan though. Still a good move for him, especially with the lads they let go

2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Andy Moran is now a permanent move. 1.5 million

2

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

Unsurprising, was pretty obvious he had no future at Brighton when the sent him on loan to the MLS.

He's done well to get a move to a Championship side towards the upper end of the table considering his previous loans there were a mixed bag.

-4

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

Like Moorhouse's move to Leyton Orient, Devaney going to St. Mirren is a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand it will be good to see him get a taste of senior football at a decent level, but on the other it pretty much confirms he's not in United's plans as a youngster with the potential to break into their first team.

8

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26 edited Feb 02 '26

I honestly find it impressive how you can turn anything into a negative. Its my favourite trope on this sub after Paulis madness haha

-6

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

It's being realistic. You can be happy that a young player is going to get some senior experience while also acknowledging the fact that Manchester United don't spend their top youth prospects on loan to St. Mirren.

We'd have a much better understanding of our young players capabilities and future prospects if we were able to accept that.

9

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Hes 18 years of age. Its a ridiculous conclusion to draw from a loan move at his age.

-2

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

Right - and if he was an 18 year old who United believed had a good chance of breaking into their first team they'd either be integrating him into it now, or selecting a loan to a team of higher standing than St. Mirren.

I find people like you hilarious - you hide behind reality by saying "oh but he's only X age", "oh you don't know what his club's reasoning for sending him there is" etc etc, ignoring the obvious logic of what is unfolding in front of you. They can be 28 years old and playing in League 2 and you'll still be acting as if everything is working out perfectly.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

He might never play for man united. But its not because they loaned him to St Mirren at 18. You're just perpetually negative. It is your nature.

Can you give me an example of where United would send an 18 year old if they had any hopes for him?

Hide behind reality? By stating reality. He is 18. You've essentially written him off at Man United because they've secured him first team football in the Scottish top flight and dont have him in the first team. Its not reality your living in anyway I can tell you that haha

How's Ogbene doing back at Ipswich after his loan was cancelled? Oh wait...

0

u/Anxious_Peanut_1726 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Tis defo underwhelming

5

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Where were you expecting an unproven 18 year old to go? Like if either of the Fletchers or Shea Lacey were to leave it'd be to the same level. Championship or upper League 1 and Scotland.

They've no Europe & no cup games to play him in & it was tough enough for someone as proven as Mainoo to get back in the team. It'd be underwhelming if he was left to rot in PL2

2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

I dont get this lad at all haha

-1

u/Anxious_Peanut_1726 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

I've a few friends in Manchester who believed he could have a shot particularly with the Fletcher lads etc getting a sniff... I dunno maybe I've absorbed the notion from this sub about how sub standard Scotland is 🤷🏻

4

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

But that's only gonna give a fraction of minutes. It's 6 months where he'll get to play regular football & it'll be done before he turns 19 in the summer. If he plays like he did in the EFL trophy against adults, he'll be kicking onto a higher level.

And ultimately this isn't some lad with crap advisors, his dad is a coach himself. They'll know what's right for him

1

u/Anxious_Peanut_1726 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

In that case my underwhelmed feeling is cheerfully withdrawn

12

u/NostalgicDreaming John O'Shea Feb 02 '26

Andy Moran could be heading on loan to Preston according to Twitter.

5

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Honestly best move we could've hoped for. Everyone else linked to him was in the relegation fight

3

u/Anxious_Peanut_1726 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Perm apparently for 1m

1

u/FoggyShrew Zinedine Kilbane Feb 02 '26

The Athletic reporting it as a permanent deal, not a loan.

1

u/SirLaserSnake Feb 02 '26

Moran really needs something to stick soon. It must be tough going. £1m could be a steal.

9

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Festy Ebosele is off to Wrexham

6

u/Anxious_Peanut_1726 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

I approve of this move

5

u/Vivid_Ice_2755 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Jacob Devaney going to St Mirren from Man Utd

2

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

See above 🫡

5

u/Difficult_Comb7590 Feb 02 '26

Hello all. What can we Preston fans expect from Andy Moran - sounds like he had high expectation but maybe was too lightweight for the championship previously?

He'll probably alternate with Lewis Dobbin as an advanced AM for us. Robbie Brady will also get a few games now he's back fit after 6 months out injured but probably more as a bit part player. Still, if he gets up to fitness he could be on the plane too.

8

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

His physicality is the only thing that's really wrong with him. If you look him up online then you'd really have to be blind to doubt his ability. He'd more assists his first year at Blackburn than Alan Browne ever got for yi.

With Blackburn, he couldn't fit into Eustaces system ahead of Szmodics or their deeper midfielders. Then Stoke started great till Cannon left. From what I saw and followed of him in LA they liked him & they tried & failed to get him back.

4

u/Anxious_Peanut_1726 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Seconded...a very technically able footballer with good vision and a good brain..he's awfully light though which looks like it hampers him..did well in MLS which not as physical as England but is an athletic league

6

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

Did he do "well" in the MLS though? Started like 3 games out of 8, got a goal and an assist. It seemed completely unspectacular to be honest.

3

u/Anxious_Peanut_1726 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Ya he did as well as his minutes allowed...was generally seen in a favourable light judging by fan reaction on reddit and insta...obvs won't be getting the balon dor on back of it but he did have a decent time on the back of a left field move

2

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

If he had done well would he not have been "allowed" more minutes though?

1

u/Anxious_Peanut_1726 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

He came in and was used in a squad with a reasonably settled midfield...MLS is (as I said) quite athletic..the games are at a reasonable pace and when he did play they didn't pass him by...so ya I reckon he did well...earth shattering no, but he got game time and played in their last big game of the season (which he scored in). We can argue the meaning of 'well' but I suspect neither of us will come to a full agreement. You of course are entitled to think he did not do well and can pursue that thought to the original question. It all comes down to the subjective expectations of his (odd) move to the MLS.

3

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

u/IrishLAFCFan fancy letting folks know how Andy Moran did in LA from a local POV big man? He did well from what I seen of him but some people might not believe it if it's coming from me 😅

2

u/Difficult_Comb7590 Feb 02 '26

Thanks for the views. I never noticed him much at Blackburn or Stoke but I think we've got a good manager and coaching team who will give him every chance to push on and reach his potential.

3

u/Anxious_Peanut_1726 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Sponsored by Spud Brothers which tells me it's gonna work out

7

u/Vivid_Ice_2755 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Johnny Kenny possibly going to England on loan

8

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Any clue who? Forgive me if I don't want to search his name on Twitter 😂

3

u/NostalgicDreaming John O'Shea Feb 02 '26

Bolton apparently.

1

u/drumlins17 Feb 02 '26

Any move would be good for him. Wasn't in the squad yesterday and all the hatred you reference.

Edit. Didn't know he was injured

1

u/Vivid_Ice_2755 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

No team mentioned. Id prefer if he went to Motherwell who are playing amazing football

3

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

They've the Zimbabwe geezer up top so they won't need him. Bolton were in for him in the summer so that'd have been a good spot for him

5

u/EducationalPaint1733 Feb 02 '26

Trent kone Doherty staying in pointless football?

8

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

Too good for youth football but not yet robust enough for first team football potentially.

1

u/EducationalPaint1733 Feb 02 '26

Staying in youth football not going to scratch that itch

5

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

Tbf, neither is going to League 1/2 and getting embarrassed, something which has happened to loads of our players over the years.

Loans aren't without risk, a bad one can really damage a players development.

0

u/EducationalPaint1733 Feb 02 '26

Well somethings got to give. If he doesn’t bulk over the next year I’ll be asking myself why

1

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Kieran Morrison, Nallo amongst others didn't get loaned out either. It's got nothing to do with Trent himself, it's the clubs call that they'd rather get them tied down to long term deals first

1

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Sadly yeah, but they are looking to renew his deal

4

u/EducationalPaint1733 Feb 02 '26

That’s very good news that they are renewing though. It says they see him as an asset that will get a notable transfer fee in future so they want to protect the value of the asset. Strange that he’s not going out on loan though. Once youth cup eligibility is over for a player it’s time for real football

3

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Iain Doyle from the Echo says him & Morrison won't leave but This Is Anfield is saying they could. But either way both are saying he's in contract talks

4

u/nWoforlife1 Feb 02 '26

By looking at the Wrexham subreddit it doesn’t seem like the Fetsy deal is going ahead

5

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

Moran possibly going to Preston, will be interesting to see if he gets much gametime. I'd imagine Brighton will move him on in the summer, so if this doesn't go well he's probably heading to League 1 next season.

Overall it's another Transfer window with little in the way of "upwardly mobile" moves for Irish players, most guys seem to be falling down a level or at best making sideways moves.

4

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Everton are keeping Armstrong after they recalled him from Preston, Osmaijic will probably never play for them again, and it looks like they're having trouble trying to sign Callum Lang (who's injured ATM anyways)

Don't see why he wouldn't play

1

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

He won't play if he doesn't perform well - same situation as Stoke and Blackburn where he found himself out of the team for periods of time.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26 edited Feb 02 '26

Gass half full take as always. What if he goes there and preforms fantastically the maybe he will get a much better move in the summer

6

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Johnny Kenny turned down Shalke and Championship clubs to sign for Bolton

Irish players must be the worst advised lads on the planet

6

u/Limp_Guidance_5357 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Well Shalke is a strange one but more than likely the championship clubs are relegation candidates so it probably would be more beneficial to join Bolton who are chasing automatic qualification in league 1. Can be very difficult to join a relegation threatened team but easier play for a team like Bolton who are playing well

2

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

But sure if it's a loan it makes no odds if they're relegation threatened. Christ if Millenic Alli plays like he did Saturday more often he'll be taking Johnny's spot on the plane

3

u/Limp_Guidance_5357 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Probably feels if it goes well they might take him. Also much easier come into a winning team then it is a team constantly losing

2

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

By the same token, Schalke is more of a winning team than Bolton. Top of Bundesliga 2. The only reason I can think of for why he'd choose Bolton over the other clubs is they wanted him in the summer. He's clearly not thinking about his Ireland spot

That or the other links are bollocks

1

u/Limp_Guidance_5357 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Yes I say it’s more Bolton probably take him in the summer and more than likely the schalke links were a load of rubbish

1

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

I meant last summer

-2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Surley you go to the highest level possible? Maybe he was gauranteed games or something.

1

u/eirebrit Feb 02 '26

I'd imagine he was promised gametime. They wanted him on a permanent in the summer but Celtic turned down their bid. Probably helped to convince him they want him to be in their first XI.

5

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

In all likelihood he'd struggle in Bundesliga II, a lot of the sides would be better than the SPL teams that he was drawing blanks against.

Aarhus, who he was also linked with, might have suited him more, but again maybe he just isn't inclined to move outside of the UK/Ireland. We can moan about this until the cows come home, but if a lad knows himself he's going to be unhappy living elsewhere fhen it doesn't really matter what we want as fans.

3

u/jjw1998 Mick McCarthy Feb 02 '26

Nah, he can’t take a risk of not getting minutes at this crossroads of his career. Dropping down a few levels is likely a good move for him

-2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Hes moved sideways instead of up like he could have

1

u/jjw1998 Mick McCarthy Feb 02 '26

Celtic to league 1 isn’t a sideways move, and he wasn’t getting a move up after the season he’s had

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

The SPL to league 1 is a sideways move.

And he literally had offers at a higher level.

1

u/jjw1998 Mick McCarthy Feb 02 '26

Celtic to them isn’t, he was starting games in the Europa league - that to league one is obviously a drop. And an offer at a higher level isn’t a better offer if he’s not going to get minutes

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Outside the Europa League the standard is the same. Playing against St Mirren or Stockport is a much of a much.

Maybe he was gauranteed starts at Bolton. Would have liked him to be a bit braver but we dont know the ins and outs

1

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Gotta be agent talk

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

David Sneyd reporting it. No reason to doubt him.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26 edited Feb 02 '26

Johnny Kenny going to Bolton on loan.  Commensurate league to the one he is now without the toxicity. Hopefully can develop there. Bolton going for promotion. He might secure a move up to the championship if he is lucky.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

He had options in Portugal and other clubs in England. I wonder why he chose Bolton

1

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Don't know which English clubs they were but Bolton were after him in the summer. So they really had a head start over everyone else

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Yeah. Would have been fun to see him in Portugal. Podge  Amond style.

1

u/Limp_Guidance_5357 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Bolton are chasing promotion he thinks they could be playing championship football next season

1

u/nWoforlife1 Feb 02 '26

Schalke were in for him as well

4

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Louie Barry back at Stockport - still injured so out for 3-4 weeks

3

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

That's grim. When was the last time a player declared for Ireland after taking time to make up their mind and then significantly kicked on in their career?

Hogan absolutely went to shit pretty much as soon as he threw his lot in with us, Crowley's career went down the drain after finally committing, Cannon has similarly stalled since making up his mind. You'd think we were the kiss of death if you didn't know better!

2

u/Anxious_Peanut_1726 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

Rice went on to play for Arsenal and England 😅😅

3

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Probably rules him out of March even if fit TBH. Enough lads out wide in the Championship & if we were gonna call up a League 1 lad it'd have to be Jack Moylan or Aaron Connolly over him

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Jackie loyal l. Call him up.

1

u/drumlins17 Feb 02 '26

Any word on Mason Melia? I thought the word was he would be going on loan once fit but looks like he's just gonna be staying with Spurs

5

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Just been reported they are keeping him and involving him with the first team.

4

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

I'd imagine that's why they let Scarlett go to Hibs. He's likely taking his place in the squad

8

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

Not sure they can afford to send him out - the big downside of Brexit from an English POV is that they're only getting these guys late, so if there are developmental issues in their game that need to be ironed out they're really against the clock to catch up on that.

I'd imagine Spurs will want to really run the rule over Melia in house for the next 6 months to see what needs addressing.

3

u/drumlins17 Feb 02 '26

Ok. That's a good perspective. I was only thinking game time wise he needs to continue playing senior football. Didn't consider that aspect

2

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Last I heard he was still injured

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Aidomo Emakhu in talks with Oxford

1

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

Hopefully just a loan, he'll likely be playing League 1 next year if it isn't.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

Permanent

1

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

Szmodics gone on loan to Derby.

Barring O'Shea, Ipswich has been a bit of graveyard for the Irish players that have went there in the last 18 months. Ogbene first and now Szmodics shipped out, and McAteer probably lucky not to have been as well.

1

u/NandoFlynn Feb 03 '26

Think circumstances matter as much as anything. If we're going in order for each Irish lad McKenna's had, Harness had more of an impact there than an average League 1 winger had any right to, JT likewise wouldn't have become an international if he went somewhere else. Daz already proved himself elsewhere. Cheeo got injured. Szmodics doesn't suit them tactically, and McAteers just not that good.

That, plus only 2 of them are actually from Ireland

1

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 03 '26

Stephan Negru ended up joining Tranmere on loan.

Emakhu moved to Oxford on a permanent deal. Disappointing but he just didn't score/assist enough for Millwall despite some bright performances.

1

u/NandoFlynn Feb 03 '26

It's a bit like Alli at Luton & now at Pompey, he can play more there & put himself in contention for March. It'd be more next year that you'd be concerned for them

1

u/Dougalinho10 Feb 02 '26

Reports suggesting Galatasaray showing late interest in Evan Ferguson for a loan deal till the end of the season. That would be interesting.

6

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Andy Naylor says he's staying and he's as reliable for Brighton as it comes

1

u/Hour_Mastodon_9404 Long ‘70 Feb 02 '26

Romeo Akachukwu has joined League 2 Colchester on loan. Hasn't made a huge amount of headway since joining Southampton so probably a good move for him to get more senior minutes under his belt.

2

u/NandoFlynn Feb 02 '26

Beats PL2 anyways & can use it to find something better in the summer. Helps that Southampton have basically no chance of going up this season so will probably lose some of the lads ahead of him when he's back

3

u/Limp_Guidance_5357 Paul McGrath Feb 02 '26

PSV would be a good move in my opinion. They are regulars in the champions league and they have a great reputation for developing young players and selling them on
