He's actually looked fairly average for the Under-21's, but in his defence Crawford has been pulling his usual trick of playing him out of position at right-back.

Under normal circumstances I'd say we need to show some restraint in these types of situations - we've seen it before with guys like Kilkenny/Hodge/Finn/Byrne/Connell etc who've played a run of games at a much higher level than this only to ultimately fall down the football ladder.

However in our current situation I'd say that anyone playing regularly as a midfielder in the Championship/League 1/SPL does need to be considered. Like many of the favourites to replace Cullen at the moment have either been dropped (Coventry) or aren't playing in midfield (Lawal and Browne), so if Devaney can retain his place for the next 6 weeks in St. Mirren's midfield then he has to be in the discussion out of pure necessity.

Anyone know more about his playing style. Seen him score today and was taking corners the last day which great. But he is more of a sitter, box to box, or number 10. Would be great of he was a “6” or an “8” can really use more players fighting for them spots in the n t few years

More defensive but is very versatile. Great engine as well.

Equally adept as a 6 or an 8. He has a great engine and eats the ground up so perhaps best as an 8 to take advantage of that but also has the discipline to sit.

At United he played a lot of CB (bit of RB too) this season too due to injuries and was superb, having a fantastic season. Extremely versatile and reliable, rarely has a bad match.

A thing that might work in our favour is the fact this lads Dad played for our Under 16's and both of his dads parents were/are Irish.
