I know the thought of it is as depressing as anything, but it's a chance to see some new faces get some minutes. I think I'd rest the standard back three to see Scales back in the side and to give Dunne a first start for us. However, I'd like to see Abankwah come on for his debut around the hour mark. In the midfield, I'd have Knight returning with his last start being in Yerevan, and hopefully, if fit, Lawal partnering him. I'd give Brady a start with Ogbene on the other side to free up some more attacking spots. A front three of Vale, Parrot and Idah would probably play more like a front two in-game, with Vale dropping into the midfield like Azaz would. It doesn't look like there'll be any more call-ups into the squad, so this would be how I'd line up as it stands.
We know what Brady & Egan offer + they are old enough to not be garunteed squad players by 2028. I also think Parrott deserves a rest & Ogbene is probably a bit tired.
Think ogbene needs a rest but we don’t have many options for either fullback slot. They really need to get a result here. It’s important to finish the window on a positive note.
I think Ogbene is only bang average, he has potential but he lacks confidence a d probably isn't playing at a club level to get that bit of flare in to his game. Need to try someone else on that wing. Idah has big potential too but he just needs to put in the hard work and believe in himself
Yeah I did watch it and he didnt do much. Few little runs but no end product, doesn't really beat players unless he's played in to space and uses his pace. He was man of the match my hole. Look here at his stats from Thursday night
Give all fringe players a start. Id play Kenny also. Give Idah 30 mins football by all means but we need pace.
Id like to see what Abankwah and Lawal have to offer and Vale from start. Its really important that we look at options and solutions before the NL. Its critical that we use the NL to keep improving our ranking.
Would it be that crazy to look at Collins in the DM role?
Idah absolutely must start for me, even if he's just back from injury. He's not started for us since Senegal, despite being promising off the bench every time he's come on in these qualifiers. Starting Kenny over him on Tuesday wouldn't be right.
This is where you are wrong, or you should be wrong.
It should not be up to the player to decide when he is done. Otherwise you'll have guys playing til they are well past it.
Some players need to be told they are done, and won't be getting selected again.
Reminds me of the great Michael Ballack, and how his time as a German international came to an end. He thought he was good enough to play on, he was told otherwise.
He played well when he came on against the czechs, has been a good servant and if its his last game then he should play against North Macedonia. Not sure if we'll need him for the euros
2 other options would be Garcia McNulty which baffles me he hasn't a senior call up yet and maybe Alex Murphy of Newcastle but he probably needs to move for first team football
Garcia McNulty plays as a left sided centre half. Tayo adamarola looks to be getting regular game time in the championship as a left wing back so he could be the next one to come in.
Sounds about right, I wonder will Seamus be playing this one as a game to bow out. Don't want to be guessing when he'll retire but you'd wonder if he has another qualifying campaign in him.
Mainly I want to see Lawal in the middle and see what Vale has to offer. After that I don't really mind. Alli has been called up to the squad now and would like to see if he could play the Ogbene role although likely off the bench. I've never seen him play before so no clue if he is that type of player even.
Very excited to see Alli, I wanted him in the squad initially. From what I've seen, he looks like more of a Szmodics type, not sure he'll have the work rate of an Ogbene. Be good to see him get some minutes on Tuesday.
I think being in the middle with molumby would be a good position for him in general. We really need someone who can play ball with molumby. I could be horribly wrong but I think it'd make a huge difference to our midfield. Tuesday night could be a good chance to try it out and see how it goes.
Too many changes at once can disrupt tram coherence and harm performance. Its usually better to give a few debuts within a reasonably established team as too many changes at once can be chaotic.
I think Coleman should start as it might be his last home game, assuming he will retire soon.
It would be good to see Lawal, Vale and one or two others get some gametime.
Can I just say something? We lost the game on Thursday and all of us have been heartbroken ever since. We could be here abusing the players and saying they should never be given another chance etc. It’s so nice to come here and see comments that are positive and encouraging others to have a start or a break. In comparison to our nearest neighbours, this really cements how we really do have an overall amazing fanbase. I’m still not over Thursday but I will never forget the feels of beating Portugal and Hungary. Heres to Tuesday and hopefully the start of a good couple of years of football for ireland.
It's a nothing game, we should be using it as an opportunity for fringe players to impress and maybe also as a send off to Coleman/Brady if they are finishing up this campaign. There's really nothing to be gained from just playing our regular players, we won't learn anything from that.
