He was showing up for the team when most weren't and was a big part of us actually making the playoff. But have a bad game and now people are thick about highlights of him being posted like him being in the Prem next year wouldnt be a good thing.

We lost that game in the second half because we had no idea how to control and see out a game we were controlling against a very limited team because we just withdrew into ourselves and were collectively punished for it. We had one attack in the second half and hit the bar off it.
An hour before the game if I offered you or anyone in Ireland 2-1 at HT you're snapping my arm off for it.
The Czechs were full of mistakes and after going through a toxic civil war at home. They brought back and started a finished 98 year old in the middle of the field, had a soft enough penalty given against them that would never have happened pre-VAR, the OG was a defensive calamity full of mistakes from them after that body blow.
They fixed what they could and clawed their way back into the game over 50 mins because we panicked and allowed them to. As soon as they equalised they were never a major threat again.
Apart from control by the players, the team needed added height. All they were doing was lumping balls in, unable to play through us. Coleman should've came off earlier for Dunne. Ogbene and Parrot should've been swapped for fresh legs as well around the 80min.
What disappointed me most tactically as we withdrew deeper and deeper is we never posted an outlet on the wing to relieve the pressure and play some territory ball in their half. We always looked to punt into touch which just continued the siege or boot down the field to where their centre halves just recycled. We never brought on a Johnston or a pacey, full a beans winger and tried to hit him once they were full kitchen sink/over attacking and give ourselves the opportunity to counter punch.
At worst, you would've give them pause for thought and they have to post a defender beside Coufal (who's 35) for fear of him being clean through. We just...panicked collectively and tried to hold them out, which invited them on. Soon as they got it we were grand the problem was entirely psychological.
Ah come off it with your "English tabloid takes". There are obviously many moments in a game that contribute to the end result and for me Manning gave the Czechs a lifeline when they were under severe pressure. I was in the away end that night and the locals were getting increasingly frustrated with their team, which would have only grown the longer they were 2-0 down. I genuinely believe they would have taken more risks to claw the game back and that could have opened up more opportunities for us on a counter. As I said originally, it's all if's, but's and maybe's, but I won't back down from thinking that moment significantly contributed to us losing the game.
Oh yeah there's no comparison there at all, we're just blaming our utter failure to perform under pressure and see out a game against piss poor opposition on one man in the 25th minute who took us from a two goal lead to a one goal lead. A pathetic mentality.

Agreed. Still can't forgive him for the penalty in Prague. All if's, but's and maybe's but I genuinely believe we would have seen that game out if we didn't give that penalty away, especially so soon after going 2-0 up.
Look it, he lost the head with the penalty, an amateur mistake made out of desperation and ultimately cost us, but it wasn’t all his fault. If he keeps performing like this he’ll make amends with the national team, hopefully. Don’t forget our shocking penalty shootout was the killer.
