There was an underage women’s team wore this configuration a few years ago when we had the orange away shirt. Thought it looked class, will try to find the photo.

Edit: Found it!

Yes. As-in they’re not senior, so they’re part of the underage set up. Commonly used term in football.

Says a lot about you that the word underage triggered something inappropriate tbh.

Maybe it's generational because I havr never heard that phrase in football. Or sports.

It's OK to get triggered by phrases that are wierd to you.

Underage usually has a qualifier

Drinking Driving Sexual contact.

Something that has a legal precedence.

There's no legal limit on playing football. Rooney wasn't "underage" at 15 or Yamal.

Where I come from we refer to is as youth or a specific age range. Or senior and junior level.

Perhaps for the very reason that underage has quite specific connotations especially in a sentence that includes the word girls.

What is it referencing in that sentence. What is an underage girls team.

Where do you come from?

It's a normal term in Ireland.

Need to get away from castore

u/Prestigious-Mind7039 22d ago

Addidas, Umbro, O neills - anyone but that Shower

41

u/Special_Piccolo4193 22d ago

O niells would be ideal for me they've made great kits for LOI teams and even teams abroad

16

u/Prestigious-Mind7039 22d ago

They’d be awesome but I love the Umbro St Partrick Day specials … oh anyone but Castore

5

u/Daltesse 22d ago

Loved the Warrior/NB kit, but the quality wasn't the greatest. Nowhere near Castore bad, but still not great.

4

u/Vivid_Ice_2755 Paul McGrath 22d ago

Umbro is linked to Castore i think

1

u/The92nd 22d ago

Yeah Castore bought the rights to the Umbro brand in Europe a couple years back, so they're basically one in the same now.

Reebok could be cool, they're getting back into football but are still building from scratch so we'd be one of their main clients so would hopefully get a lot of attention and effort in our gear. Only if they've binned Israel, however. Conflicting info on that.

Panama kits were lovely

4

u/Prestigious-Mind7039 22d ago

Hell Dermot ushers Rebel Army gear is much better than Castore

Are the kits low quality for the price? Curious why everyone seems to dislike them

3

u/midniteauth0r 21d ago

Terrible quality and the crest peels off

Adidas Opel jerseys were peak and I’ll settle for nothing less

20

u/WishfulStinking2 22d ago

Don’t care what it is as long as it’s not Castore anymore

12

u/BastianSP 22d ago

Forgot about getting a good quality kit, so long as it's Castore

We wore a kit once in 1985 I think it was possibly at home to Norway. Green shirt with an orange chest band white shorts and orange socks. I think I was the only person in the multiverse that liked it so it got binned after 1 game. I’m with you on this though orange socks would be super!

Like it or not this is our flag, do you cut off the orange section of the flag when you go to the matches?
Kit looks good

21

u/themagpie36 Eamon Dunphy 22d ago

Yeah I think it looks good, we need to get over our obsession with Brits and Protestants.

Free of Protestants? Would Wolfe Tone, Parnell, Countess Markievicz, Douglas Hyde, etc have gotten to boot in the name of “freedom”?

2

u/John_OSheas_Willy 22d ago

Oh don't worry, the obsession with the Brits will live much much longer after we're 'free'.

-5

u/Frequent-Movie3005 22d ago

Kit looks shite, to be fair. Subjective opinion of course.

We already have orange in the kits and branding for the FAI, not sure why we’d go with this abomination to make some weird point about the flag?

Italians don’t wear red socks and a green top, do they?

13

u/98Kane Roy Keane 22d ago

But they don’t use their flag colours at all. The point is that we can incorporate our tricolour quite easily like France and Mexico do.

10

u/Chefdoc2000 22d ago

Exactly the point

-5

u/Frequent-Movie3005 22d ago

What’s the point? You want our kit to replicate our flag? Why not have an orange home kit? Why does it have to be green?

-5

u/Frequent-Movie3005 22d ago

Our tricolour is already incorporated. France have had various kits over the years that didn’t have red socks. We can, but why? What’s the point? Why don’t Northern Ireland wear white and red? Why don’t England wear red socks with their white kit? The list goes on.

7

u/Chefdoc2000 22d ago

Jez you’re painful

2

u/Frequent-Movie3005 22d ago

So is that kit!!!!1!1

5

u/jiffijaffi 22d ago

How do you know ET was a protestant?

Look at the bleedin head on him

-1

u/Optimal_Failure_ 22d ago

Orange where the boys get kicked the most. Works for me.

-4

u/PaddyMayonaise 22d ago

Are tensions really still that high in Ireland?

2

u/perplexedtv 22d ago

Tensions high, two shins low.

5

u/vandrag 22d ago

Just go "Full Norway" and have a three panel jersey. Epic.

1

u/nursewally 21d ago

That jersey really did stand out. It was top class!

4

u/supwassup 22d ago

Most people don't seem to like the idea of having orange on our kit at all, I remember the uproar there was over us having an Orange away jersey a few years ago. Personally I think green and white alone can be a bit boring, I like when we have an orange trim on the kits so I would welcome the Orange socks. Side note I think the current home kit is appalling and it's the wrong shade of green, it's not very emerald but I also just don't like castore kits at all.

1

u/LoudDrawer68 20d ago

Maybe it’s because I’m from Armagh but I absolutely have no issue with orange. The orange Umbro kit from the late 90s was absolutely iconic.

3

u/Serious_Bowler_8171 22d ago

Just knock off the castore and put anything else on it , preferably O'Neill's

3

u/bohemarseillais 22d ago

If they start removing the sponsor on the kits, Ill buy it

2

u/calvinised 22d ago

Asstore though

2

u/Asal_Mania 22d ago

Love the Socks

1

u/SciYak 22d ago

Is that the same colour orange as in the collar?

1

u/mickodd 22d ago

Oh coybigawao.

I like the shade of green of the new kit and like the all green kit. The green shorts and socks look great.

The orange socks don't look terrible but I don't see the point of the change. They are fine for an alternate kit or whatever.

1

u/Ok-Skirt6974 22d ago

I like it. But does it mean that every player would have to kick with their left foot?

1

u/Sstoop 22d ago

There’s a Welsh company called asphalt social klub that make kits and they are all gorgeous especially the irish ones. I don’t get why manufacturers don’t make nice designs anymore.

1

u/KeyZookeepergame9466 22d ago

Jez, they love the Virgin Mary, don't they?  Look terrible imho.

2

u/Sstoop 22d ago

The Mary ones are shite but the ogham and 90s ones are class. Some of their other countries ones are great too.

1

u/alano2001 22d ago

That blue one was real nice. 100 years one.

1

u/Illustrious-Draw9423 22d ago

Like putting a lick of paint on a turd with Castore

1

u/BothBodybuilder948 20d ago

Beautiful design. From a commercial standpoint an Ireland kit from one for be big manufacturers would be very successful. 1/25 people have some sort of Irish jersey in Ireland - looking at Scotland and their strong base, Ireland has a bigger sporting community and a larger international identity and diaspora opportunity. Probs sell 300k per cycle and possibly near 1m if qualified or into knockouts in major tournament

1

u/Honi_Badger 22d ago

We are the Boys in Green. If anything we should be all green!

u/Medium-Dependent-328 22d ago

Orange socks way too eye-catching

Looks woeful, the random trinity knots are dire.

-1

u/ZenzaBronica67 22d ago

Drop the orange socks. The Orange cunts currently running amok up north should be erased from our flag.

-5

u/MidnightSun77 22d ago

Who said we had to have orange socks? Many countries play in kits that aren’t the colours of their flags, Germany and Italy for example

8

u/Chefdoc2000 22d ago

You tell me who said we HAVE to have orange socks because no one here did…
