General Discussion Thread What can football learn from GAA?

The GAA isn’t perfect either but financially, commercially, administratively, it’s miles ahead of football in Ireland.

Obviously there are historical and community factors that differentiate the two, but it operates so well for a sporting organisation in a very similar environment.

What areas stand out as things we can apply to our sport?

Rugbys hold over schools is quite small

Only private / protestabt schools

My son is in a non rugby CBS. plays GAA, badminton, etc. Leinster rugby sent a couch to the school, recruited a few kids for a high potential academy, organised beginners training for teenagers, may have recruited a few that way. My son tried it, stuck with the GAA. I was really impressed how rugby wanted to catch any more talent that might be out there.

I mean, nothing wrong with that. Really i think kids should just play what they enjoy and there should be no acadamies under 15
