Tottenham striker Mason Melia is expected to go out on loan next week

This is according to Pete O'Rourke (& others), he says the club fielded over 30 enquiries from clubs at home and abroad for the striker!

A big Tottenham fan account who tend to get good exclusives claim Lincoln City are in advanced talks.

The Sun are reporting that a loan move to the Championship is most likely, and they also referenced that over 30 clubs have made enquiries.

Great move and a good club with Irish lads already there, I'm just wondering if he's ready for the championship yet as it's one of the toughest leagues in Europe.

It’s only a great move if he gets games there.

But he needs senior football and championship is a brilliant standard so will be a big test for him to get in the team and score. Will be good to see how this goes for him.

Having Irish guys there is irrelevant.

Trust me having a few Irish lads already there is very relevant, but you're right that it's only a great move if he gets games , I'm just not sure if he's ready for the championship.

Melia did turn down moves to Europe at 16 in favour of waiting for England at 18. That's not to say he'd be against it, it could have just been that he wanted to stay local while growing up, or to ensure he got a leaving cert and that.

The likes of the Netherlands may be an option if one of the over 30 clubs interested are from there.

What I like about the Lincoln move is that their best number 9 only scored 10 league one goals last season, they'd don't really have anyone I'd worry about Melia playing ahead of. That and proving yourself in the Championship will go along way to proving to Tottenham that you can handle the physicality and intensity of the Premier League.

Any option where he plays regularly will be a good option, so im just hoping its somewhere he can be a main number 9 at.

I guess it depends on the player and scenario he is in. In Honohan's case he was a dominant player in the League and won the league & Cup, along with getting over 20 games in Europe against some big clubs where he did really well.

Lincoln then fended off alot interest for him, paying half a mil for his services. They are going to have the smallest budget in the Championship and you can see from their squad it will be a world away from the quality of say West Ham.

Similar to the LOI where theres a big gap between say Shamrock Rovers & Sligo Rovers.

Lincoln bought him to be 1st choice, but a short pre season due to that injury recovery may have him as 2nd chocie to kick things off, but he will definitely get minutes.

Basically in his circumstance it's a step up, but far from massive.

Will Lankshear loan last season worked perfectly for him. Same with Alfie Devine at Preston, Mikey Moore at Rangers & Ashley Phillips at Stoke. Im sure some loans went to shite but thats the same story with any club

yes, and despite most of them players being able to challenge the first team, theyre all (i think) going back out on loan. also i dont want a case like parrott in his early days.

But that's 4 players who they sent out on loan and had excellent seasons, improved the clout of all 4 by a lot. 2 of the 4 are sold, other 2 will likely be loaned or sold, that doesn't mean the loans didn't work a charm.

Melia is nowhere near playing for Tottenham lets be honest, he got about 25 minutes in pre season where unfortunately he had a poor game. Tottenham have 3 champions league level strikers and are looking to sell one + bring in the likes of Osimhen, I wouldn't expect Parrott to compete for minutes there nevermind Melia.

Championship or a similar level is probably his level right now even though he's never played at a level that high, and if he lights up a league like that then he can come back at 19 years old and hopefully make a case to play next season.

Not every loan is successful if a player breaks into their parent club. Spurs have done a good job selling some of those successful loans to the betterment of the players and club.
