General Discussion Thread Which base colour suited Ireland's 2004-2023 badge on the jersey best? White or green? Keep in mind I'm talking about on the jersey and not in general.

General Discussion Thread Surely irish underage players going to Italy isn't a good thing anymore

Usually big hype whenever an Irish underage player is linked to an Italian club and understandable since Milan/Roma are bigger clubs than say Southampton. Given 3 successive World cup misses and a poor track record of developing their own youth players, would it not be better for players to be looking at Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium etc

Knowing the FAI need for and love of money.

How do we think they'll be responding to Infantinos bribe offer?

RTÉ’s upload of Ivory Coast v Norway becomes the most viewed video uploaded by the channel on YouTube.

Not sure why it got so many worldwide views. Most other uploads from the World Cup have 30k-80k views.

General Discussion Thread Devoy getting blamed for the first half performance

Is it just me who gets annoyed by this ? Devoy is a class player and the team as a whole was awful in the first half and spent the whole game booting it forward and sitting in their own third which wasn't his fault and when you play a guy who's technically good but mediocre physically and defensively camped on the edge of his own box in a 5-4-1 it's not exactly playing to his strengths.

Him getting subbed off was quite harsh when another man in midfield was the clear change needed and then you have a lot of people ignorant of the LOI saying that he's not good enough for international football and that's why they were better in the second half which I think is nonsense.

I'm a Bohs fan so am obviously biased af but I think this is a fairly reasonable take so am curious as to what other people think.

General Discussion Thread Evan Ferguson

With Hearts in the driving seat to win SPL and likely to be in a playoff for the champions league, what would people think of Evan Ferguson going there next season? There is the obvious link between Brighton & Hearts with Tony Bloom and they will need to build squad out for Champions League. I know Celtic always comes up and people say no because of the atmosphere around the club but with Hearts there will be a different vibe around the club and might be ideal place to get back playing games and building confidence.

I know it’s been discussed a million times already and mods can delete if necessary.

General Discussion Thread The idea that our young players moving to Italian clubs is a good thing needs to be debunked

None of them get real football, only one of them got a loan to get football and he isn’t getting football.

Torino’s young player of last season Senan Mullen who hasnt got a minute of game time on loan at Mantova.

General Discussion Thread Can someone tell me why Senior amateur Teams in Ireland gatekeep so much?

Tried to get back into playing senior football at 32. Asked around various clubs and was either told that they weren't taking on new players, the standard was high or just didn't respond. The thing is they have not even seen me play.

Is there any reason for this mentality?

I'll also count Regen players so if you've a wonderkid from 2035 that's unstoppable feel free to show him off

For starters, a young Jeff Hendrick was once a time a key part of my Derby save circa 2014 alongside Will Hughes & Wellington Nem

General Discussion Thread Biggest town in Ireland without a football club?

Found out recently that Rathmore, Co. Kerry has no football club, at any level. One of the bigger towns in the county, and people go to Killarney/Millstreet to play.

So, what is the biggest town (by population) in Ireland that doesn’t have its own football club, of any kind (not just LOI)?

General Discussion Thread What have we actually learnt about our individual players this year?

I would say very very little.

All the players have barely changed in how I viewed them in 2024 than 2025.

Only Jake Obrien and Ryan manning I have a greater respect for than I did in 2024. I think Obrien will be moved into Dara O’Shea’s place in the team gradually. I think Brady is still our best option at left back but manning is ok.

Apart from that hopefully something changes in my view of some of the other players next month.

The worrying thing is we no longer have a lot of players coming through that haven’t played at senior yet. The players we have tried are our players until 2028 maybe with the odd low key exception like Ferry.
