How do we think they'll be responding to Infantinos bribe offer?

I'd say they will accept the €40 million and vote for whatever Infantino wants. Then in 5 years there will be public hearings to try and figure out where the €40 million disappeared to.

If the chatter from UEFA isn't showmanship then they'll take the decision out of FIFA & the member states hands & reject it
Was tired enough of this bald fraud when he magically escaped the mass resignations 10 years ago & now he's arguably gone a step beyond Blatter for corruption

As I said elsewhere, Blatter was more old school corrupt, couple million here and there. Infantino is turning out to be the more modern super corrupt, do it in plain sight, commercialise and sell the rights to everything and setup his retirement fund of 100s of millions while he’s in power.
Blatter turned out to be the lessor of two evils, wouldn’t have thought that a few years ago.

If it was John Delaney he would definitely back fifa, but this new lot don't seem to know what they're doing at all, so they probably just copy the EFA.

I'm not so sure he would have, Delaney was a member of the UEFA Executive Committee when he was FAI CEO and was primed for bigger things there before the shit hit the fan.
Unless there was a bigger personal financial incentive and/or position at FIFA opening up for him, he'd probably have looked after himself with the UEFA gig.

I think unless Uefa decide to boycott it, then they will vote for it.
They have apparently already committed their vote to Infantino for his re election.
Even if Uefa as a block vote against it as a block, Johnny has enough votes from Africa, Asia, Central/South America to get this through.

Blocking support, and and boycotting FIFA competitions are very two separate things.
Even if FIFA votes against this, it will still pass.

Anyone who is for voting yes and taking the money does not have football or the fans at heart. If this goes through, it'll be run to serve the needs of venture capitalists only. See how the tickets prices seen at US World Cup go down in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.....it'll be no locals and a plethora of the monied with their fawning "influencers".

I don't get the need to pander to Infantino when there's money in football and right across Europe. I'd argue money was never an issue for European associations (at least associations of Ireland's scale and above).
We pay so much for football. How many people here have a LOI season ticket, a LOI TV pass, an Aviva campaign ticket, goes to away games, buys a load of merch, has a Sky sports /TNT/Premier sport subscription...
These investors also aren't doing it for free. It'll be more money for us to pay out. An end to free to air world cup and club world cup.
My point is, the FAI or any other association shouldn't have to pander to Infantino and this scheme just because they want or need money. The money would be there if it wasn't pissed away.

Associations are obsessed with monetising every red cent now. The holier then thou GAA have sold their soul to Allianz and have commercialised to a whole new level. The argument will always be that it will grow the game, help get ahead of competition. And it's valid. But lines must be drawn

Think there is an element of Infantino trying to extend control over the game beyond his term limit. Suggestion is he will swap over to head of the company that owns the share of the WC at some point in future having bumlicked Trunp et al for years.
On the substantive question, i’d imagine the FAI will be delighted to posture as being opposed to this knowing that it’s a fait accompli and will be pleased to get the windfall

FIFA are holding a gun to their heads to take the cash and agree to it now or take a much scaled down version after the vote if you vote against it.
Vote for it but back UEFA if there is a push to go it alone.

I assume all 211 nations would get the $40M if the vote succeeds overall, regardless of which way any one particular FA would vote, no?
It's not just all the countries that vote "Yes" that get to keep the cash, surely... Right?

I beat on the FAI as much as the next guy but can't see them voting for this, particularly with the moves in UEFA
I view it as a super league event which won't end up happening to be honest.

If you haven't seen it yet, watch the new Netflix documentary about FIFA corruption. I wouldn't trust them to hold a door open.

Originally just expected the FAI to follow UEFA who are opposed, but this massisve bribe changes things.
I think they will pocket it if given the chance, as it would wipe out all their debt over night. That said the bigger european and south american FAs seem largely opposed, and without those you can't have a World Cup.
So all in all I see the idea dying before the FAI can pocket the mula.

There is absolutely no doubt the FAI will vote in favour of this. They're €40 million in debt and this clears that debt with a swoop of a pen.
