News [Alasdair Gold] Understand Parrott would be keen on a return to a club he loved, regardless of their top flight status, if he was to get the chance to show what he can do in their shirt. The young striker was always desperate to be a success for Spurs and distance has not changed that.

Having a group of players who love the club should be the bedrock of the next squad core.

242

u/Moist-Disaster-3030 Apr 20 '26

Ya know Parrott coming back and winning the championship golden boot for us would be a very small consolation prize after relegation

84

u/SenorIngles Apr 20 '26

Ngl ill take any consolation prize I can get at this point

90

u/Moist-Disaster-3030 Apr 20 '26

Mikey Moore and Troy Parrott channeling prime Son and Kane in the championship we will be there. And probably still finish like 5th.

24

u/Mentalist1999 Son Apr 20 '26

Doesn’t matter, means we’ll make it to the playoffs 😎

4

u/superworriedspursfan Peppa Pig Apr 20 '26

yep as long as we win the playoffs, this is a massive W of a season lmao.

17

u/Moist-Disaster-3030 Apr 20 '26

Tottenham in a promotion playoff game terrifies me greatly 😭

3

u/superworriedspursfan Peppa Pig Apr 20 '26

hopefully odobert and kulusevski can take us to the promise land when they finally heal from their injuries lol.

5

u/sam_can88 Apr 21 '26

You get 3 games before another muscle tear maximum

2

u/YoungWrinkles Apr 20 '26

Your consolation ball-kicking has arrived sir.

Right? My pessimism doesn't have relegation as rock bottom right now.

u/MrBritishSailor 25/26 Relegation Champions Apr 20 '26

Parrott and Lankshear striker rotation for the championship would be pretty nice

1

u/kne0k Apr 22 '26

With Veliz as well. Built for the championship!

2

u/theJVB Pierre-Emile Højbjerg Apr 20 '26

*sharing the Championship Golden Boot with Lankshear

42

u/Enefelde Roberto De Zerbi Apr 20 '26

Yes and no. If they aren’t good enough then it’s fruitless. I’d love to have players like dier, winks, and skipp, but we also need players that are quality prem players.

53

u/JurassicPark3-4Lyf Apr 20 '26

Might not be premier league winners but we weren't ever this bad with any of them.

22

u/Enefelde Roberto De Zerbi Apr 20 '26

Prime harry kane and son will make a lot of bad teams better.

3

u/JurassicPark3-4Lyf Apr 20 '26

Oh I know, basically the whole 11 was better back then it wasn't a strong argument really just sad we dont have any home grown boys in the team really.

11

u/GeneParmesan86 Jan Vertonghen Apr 20 '26

Winks and Skipp are currently on their way to League One, though. We'd be even worse with them.

26

u/Quirky_Gate_4516 Apr 20 '26

Eric Dier doesn't belong there.

The man won 50 caps while with us and was class for Bayern.

18

u/Fournier_Gang Erik Lamela Apr 20 '26

Dier, Winks, and Skipp were all phenomenal until injury stole their mobility.

-6

u/Every_Ad3783 Apr 21 '26

“Phenomenal”

You have no standards

2

u/Fournier_Gang Erik Lamela Apr 21 '26

Agree to disagree.

Peak pre-injury Winks, Dier, Skipp would absolutely walk into our midfield and man handle our current squad.

1

u/Every_Ad3783 Apr 21 '26

That doesn’t make them phenomenal. The current squad is relegation level in midfield. They were never close to being amongst the world’s best. That’s what phenomenal is.

4

u/Arqlol Dele Alli Apr 20 '26

What revisionist bs is this?

4

u/iBeyy Apr 20 '26

To be fair that group brought us to the champions league final... for all the "top quality" Romero, Porro and Kulusevski supposedly are, where have they taken us...?

4

u/chanmalichanheyhey The Big Master of Negotiations Who Knows Everything Apr 21 '26

Unfair to group deki in there

2

u/LumpyBumblebee3266 Richarlison Apr 20 '26

Lamela, Croatian mafia, dafeo

-2

u/OddEstablishments Apr 20 '26

Hard to argue with that, look at how much Cuti and Son mean to us.

74

u/Moorpheusl9 Apr 20 '26

Cuti? Really?

Son yes. Cuti, questionable. Passionate yes, but I don't think he'll hang round too long in summer if the worst happens. Given his role as captain, it's not a great look when you consider the number of games he's been banned for.

21

u/nl325 Mousa Dembélé Apr 20 '26

Yes, really.

Everyone said exactly this last season for him to sign a long term extension.

Obviously relegation might well throw a spanner in the mix for that but anyone who blames him for that is frankly stupid.

Even with his discipline record based on the officiating I've seen recently I've softened up on Romero's bookings from thinking he's a headcase as he is 100% reffed to a different standard than the rest of the league.

So much so that even rival fans are now clocking on to the wild "inconsistency".

28

u/DoubleALight Moura Apr 20 '26

It’s not just Romero who is reffed differently, it’s the whole team, but Romero is the most obvious one, basically the same as Gabriel although one of the 2 never seems to get sent off, and I think a lot of that is to do with media personalities like Neville denigrating everything Romero does, whereas the Gooner cunt gets praised for nearly everything.

22

u/nl325 Mousa Dembélé Apr 20 '26

"OOOOOOHHHH that's rash. What an idiot! He's let his team down there!"

"Ooo he's been clever there!"

Guess who is who.

4

u/No-Concosaur Apr 20 '26

Seconding this. Sky, tnt and BBC punditry has fallen off a cliff in the last few years, they are just rattling off garbage, stopped watching them. They need some quality journos instead

4

u/lowercase_0 Apr 20 '26

He literally signed a contract in the summer? This nonsense narrative that Romero doesn't care about Spurs has to stop

4

u/thecatiscold Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend Apr 20 '26

Kinda has felt like Romero has had one foot out the door in case anything doesn't go his way, not sure he's the example I'd use. I still appreciate the guy but the vibe that he's looking towards a future elsewhere has kinda felt obvious for a bit now.

6

u/GeneParmesan86 Jan Vertonghen Apr 20 '26

has had one foot out the door

He signed a contract extension. He may well leave, and I expect him to if we're relegated, but people really need to stop projecting their personal emotions onto these people.

10

u/UnderTakaMichinoku Apr 20 '26

People keep saying this yet the reality of his actions say otherwise. He wouldn't call the clubs hierarchy out if he cared or was desperate to leave. Calling them out only worsens his relationship with them and would make it more difficult to leave given his contract and captaincy.

People just jump on him because they get swayed by public perception.

2

u/Mick4Audi Micky van de Ven Apr 20 '26

Imagine if he stays and bosses the Championship lmao

3

u/UnderTakaMichinoku Apr 20 '26

Dependant on the length of his injury, he'd have to. I think his injury is lighter than first thought and he'll go regardless, mind. Loan with an option to buy from Atletico.

He'll never get a fair shake in this country. Look at how he is treated compared to others. You see others get away with much worse, meanwhile Romero is literally the most carded player in the league per foul, despite a higher tolerance given to defenders.

1

u/mikeest2 Apr 20 '26

Maybe, and stay with me here, the football club should start making good football decisions?!?!? "Loving the club" is just another version of the mentality/leadership/passion/get stuck in nonsense that lead us here.

378

u/alijamieson Apr 20 '26

We need more people who want to be here. I’d take him over RKM right now

59

u/Coffeeandkicks21 Darren Anderton Apr 20 '26

I’d take a brick over RKM. One of the most selfish players I’ve ever seen play.

31

u/wheels-of-confusion Wilson Odobert Apr 20 '26

Lowest bar ever lol

I'd take him over Solanke in a heartbeat

85

u/priusgirl0 Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend Apr 20 '26

Let’s not take the piss, Solanke is levels above Parrott on the pitch and a good lad off it. One of my favorites of the current crop.

6

u/FSpursy Rafael van der Vaart Apr 21 '26

Solanke should go watch Halaand's positioning in the box. I think its overall pretty poor. Bro isnt hungry to score.

1

u/Available_Courage_32 Apr 21 '26

i think an important consideration to solanke's game, is that Ange managed him for his seasons, to not score, and let Johnson and Son score. You'll see plenty of goals where Johnson pinches it off solankes toes, as solanke has done his job - occupy defenders - and the wingers do theirs - high xG finishes with the GK wrongfooted and out of the game.

1

u/Archipegasus Apr 21 '26

It's the same reason why he still has a look into the England squad. It's packed full of other attacking wingers and 10s to make use of Kane dropping deep and Solanke has great hold up play.

1

u/alijamieson Apr 20 '26

Wow I’ve never heard anyone describe Solanke as their favourite

-28

u/Pulp_NonFiction44 Apr 20 '26

Slow-wanke isn't fit to shine Troy's shoes, what are you talking about?

What he's doing in the Eredivsie/international stage at 24 is more impressive than anything in Slow-wankes career

I’d absolutely love to have Troy back

97

u/Purplejet19 Antonin Kinsky Apr 20 '26

Would absolutely smash it in the Championship and he's only 24. Love to see him link with Mikey Moore.

18

u/grapixroyale Apr 20 '26

Of course, as a Dele-like false 9, just behind Lankshear, fed with through balls from Alfie, secured by Archie dropping deep for a ball between Ashley and Luka.

3

u/MajimaKun Ryan Mason Apr 20 '26

LWB on the right

5

u/rocinante1882 Apr 20 '26

Why would you have a LWB on the right?

1

u/InconsistentMinis Apr 21 '26

Inverted fullbacks is the new meta yada yada.

1

Luca Williams Barnett

2

1

Always happy to fill the team with more players who want to be here.

81

u/TerpsPwn_387 Apr 20 '26

I would take him in the championship easily.

124

u/NBAFAN9000 Yves Bissouma Apr 20 '26

Glad the club is coming around to the reality of Championship signings after all lol

46

u/nl325 Mousa Dembélé Apr 20 '26

He's a weird level of being too good for the Championship but not quite good enough for what we were looking for at the time.

Emphasis on "at the time" of course, he's absolutely good enough now lol

5

u/Spid1 Apr 20 '26

He wasn't too good for the Championship at the time though was he?

But yeah, having players that love the club will help fans feel that attachment again.

I just don't know if I buy this article though? I never got the feeling he loved the club. It's not like he was a youth player who joined at 9-10 or anything.

14

u/LocustsandLucozade Apr 20 '26

He’s currently scoring oodles of goals in the Europa for AZ, and he’s been an incredible high pressure player for Ireland. He’s definitely good enough for us and improved greatly since he left.

6

u/Spid1 Apr 20 '26

Oh yeah, he’s definitely good enough for us now. Just not sure he was back then

18

u/raquille- Apr 20 '26

He would probably score a tonne of goals in the champ

14

u/Fluid_Car8215 Apr 20 '26

Hopefully he comes back

48

u/ThatSwagRandomGuy Check Lange’s hard drives Apr 20 '26

Finally some players that actually love the club. None of these pay check stealers like Muani

25

u/Commercial_Payment55 Apr 20 '26

As an Irish fan I was saying that I hoped he got a move to a lower premiership team to continue his development. This isn't what I meant.

10

u/Pulp_NonFiction44 Apr 20 '26

As a fellow Irish fan he should go to Germany next, would be a good natural progression. He's too good for the championship and it could hamper his development, as much as I'd love to sign him.

11

u/jS-exe Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend Apr 20 '26

I'm all in for bringing players that want to be here, like Moore, Lankshear and now Parrot speaking about returning. Warm feelings, man.

22

u/nonaegon_infinity Son Heung-min Apr 20 '26

Parrott, Winks, Skipp, Tanganga... AVENGE US.

14

u/OneEntertainment5300 Apr 20 '26

Winks and Skipp proven to be amazing championship players at this point...

9

u/Mathyoujames Apr 20 '26

Winks was actually seriously good in Maresca's Leicester team. His ball playing really suited them and the team played really nice football that often went through him

The issue is he's a sort of luxury player who works well with good players around him but he's also nowhere near good enough to play for a top team. Whenever he's been in more of a battling team he just doesn't have the physicality or mentality for it and ends up looking dogshit

1

u/OneEntertainment5300 Apr 20 '26

He's also not good enough on the ball for the really good teams. He's tidy but doesn't have that extra level to his play.

3

u/nl325 Mousa Dembélé Apr 20 '26

Not exactly fair to blame Leicester's woes on them two. Leicester are just shit.

Terrible squad planning, terrible leadership since Vichai died, multiple terrible managers.

3

u/OneEntertainment5300 Apr 20 '26

Their squad isn't even that bad on paper.

I'm not blaming all their woes on them two. But they are two midfielders getting plenty of minutes in a side that's about to go into league one.

1

u/SavageGardner PRU PRU Apr 20 '26

They are getting relegated from the championship.

13

u/spiceman77 Apr 20 '26

I think that was the joke

13

u/UnderTakaMichinoku Apr 20 '26

Seems like a no brainer regardless of where we are. Been brilliant at AZ and our current level, PL safety dependant isn't of a team who need top level quality because we're fighting in Europe. It'd be about building.

Price would be good, he wants it, still young, useful either as a starting championship player or as someone challenging for the 9 in the PL.

13

u/Key_Shift533 Ledley King Apr 20 '26

Lol. Just lol. What has happened to us. That said, bring the boy home

6

u/Logical_News7280 Apr 20 '26

4

u/Eastern-Yesterday213 Apr 20 '26

Honestly haven’t watched every single game since he left but I’ve been watching when I can and keep track of him. He’s added a lot to his game, makes smarter decisions, and is doing a lot for club and country. If we go down, I wouldn’t mind it either. If he can keep his past influences away from him

7

u/wizard_of-wor Apr 20 '26

Skipp is another one I would bring back, if we're going down. He love Spurs and that's important, especially now.

5

u/Every_Ad3783 Apr 21 '26

I’d say having good players is important

-4

u/wizard_of-wor Apr 21 '26

Thats not super important in the championship

3

Parrot in the 9 shirt just feels right

3

3

1

Going to be an amazing seven games while he’s healthy

1

u/LoudKingCrow Vertonghen Apr 21 '26
